Research Associate

MSC degree in Agricultural field with emphasis on genetics and breeding desirable. Experience with R&D in any crop in any seed company desirable.

English proficiency - reading and writing required.

The position is based in Malang.

Key Responsibilities

1. Fieldwork and Data Collection:
   Conduct field visits to all stations (low level, mid-level, and high level) to observe, evaluate, and collect data on plant performance, disease resistance, and other relevant traits.
   Sow, transplant, and manage field trials to assess the adaptability and performance of various entries. Assist breeders in evaluation of hybrid trials to better understand product profile. Execute planting plans from breeders; enter field and greenhouse data in Excel and share with breeder.
2. Genetic Research and Analysis:
   Assist in genetic research activities, including DNA extraction, genotyping, and marker-assisted selection to enhance the breeding process.
   Collaborate with senior breeders in the evaluation of genetic diversity and the development of improved varieties.
3. Crossbreeding:
   Participate in crossbreeding program to develop new varieties with desirable traits.
   Monitor and manage pollination activities, ensuring accurate data collection for parentage and hybrid performance.
4. Data Management:
   Maintain accurate and detailed records of breeding activities, including pedigree information, phenotypic data, and trial results.
   Utilize data management tools to organize and analyze breeding data effectively. Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) is desirable.
5. Collaboration and Communication:
   Collaborate with the broader breeding team to share insights, contribute to breeding strategies, and align efforts with organizational goals.
   Communicate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and external partners involved in breeding program.
   Safety conscious of self and other workers.
