Quality Control Architectural Engineer

B.L.HarbertInternational is seeking an Architectural Quality Control Engineer to work in Medan, Indonesia. Candidate will be a part of the Quality Control Team and report to the Quality Control Manager. They will oversee architectural installations, ensuring they meet project specifications, relevant American building codes, and industry best practices. They will coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and the client to uphold quality at every stage of the project.

Responsibilities

1. Review submittals to confirm that proposed materials and methods comply with project requirements and specifications.
2. Inspect and verify incoming architectural materials, ensuring deliveries match approved submittals and meet all project specifications.
3. Oversee proper storage and handling of materials to maintain quality and prevent damage or deterioration.
4. Prepare and lead preparatory meeting agendas to clarify inspection plans, roles, and expectations before work begins.
5. Apply the 3-Phase Inspection Process (preparatory, initial, and follow-up) for each definable feature of work.
6. Perform initial and follow-up inspections of architectural work—including thermal and moisture protection, finishes (gypsum-board assemblies, flooring, ceiling systems, woodwork and plastic paneling, painting), and furnishings—documenting findings to ensure ongoing compliance.
7. Conduct required quality tests for architectural elements and prepare the associated test reports and documentation.
8. Identify and document non-compliances (NCRs), coordinating corrective actions with relevant teams or subcontractors.
9. Prepare daily reports, detailing inspection results, progress updates, and key observations.
10. Maintain accurate records of all material inspections and test results for audits and reviews.
11. Perform punch-list inspections, ensuring all architectural items are completed to the highest standards.
12. Contribute to as-built documentation for architectural systems, incorporating any field modifications or changes.
13. Support final turnover documentation by compiling test reports, inspection records, and manufacturers’ certifications.

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in architecture or civil engineering.
2. 8+ years of experience in construction quality control focused on architectural work.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. High level of organization.
2. Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach.

Preferences

1. Familiarity with applicable building codes and standards such as ASTM and IBC.
