Position: Chief Engineer / Technical Manager

Location: Bali, Indonesia

Reports To: Development Director

Job Summary:

The Chief Engineer / Technical Manager will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of the villa resort complex in Ubud. The role requires ensuring the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while adhering to all safety and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Coordination:
    Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
    Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project alignment and successful execution.
    Prepare and present project progress reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  2. Risk Management and Compliance:
    Identify potential risks related to the construction site and project activities.
    Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
    Ensure compliance with local regulations, building codes, health, safety, and environmental standards.
  3. Resource Management:
    Manage project resources, including labor, materials, and equipment.
    Negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors to secure quality services and materials.
    Monitor and control project costs to stay within budget.
  4. Quality Assurance:
    Implement quality control processes to ensure high standards are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
    Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify compliance with specifications and quality requirements.
    Address any issues or defects promptly to avoid delays and additional costs.
  5. Team Leadership and Communication:
    Lead and motivate the project team to achieve project goals and deadlines.
    Facilitate effective communication among team members, stakeholders, and contractors.
    Resolve conflicts and issues that arise during the project.
  6. Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
    Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all safety protocols are strictly followed.
    Oversee the implementation of HSE policies and procedures.
    Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions for the project team.

Qualifications:

  1. Education:
    Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., PMP) are preferred.
  2. Experience:
    Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management within the construction industry, preferably in resort or hospitality projects.
    Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects from inception to completion.
  3. Skills:
    Strong leadership and team management abilities.
    Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
    Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
    Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  4. Knowledge:
    In-depth knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and best practices.
    Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and environmental standards in Indonesia.
    Understanding of health, safety, and environmental practices specific to construction on challenging terrains.
  5. Working Conditions:
    The position requires presence on site and the ability to work in a construction environment.
    Flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends, to meet project deadlines.
    Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing project conditions.
