Job description

Production engineers work in the sphere of manufacturing, executing and overseeing the engineering aspects of Production/Process Release and mass production of goods in Batam plant on behalf of the department "Production Engineering Systems (BT TPS SYS PE)" of PT TDK ELECTRONICS INDONESIA.

Their main job is to ensure that all products are released and manufactured with utmost efficiency and quality, according to the organizational guidelines and planned protocols using the appropriate technology. Production engineers are responsible for both the big picture and the small details related to all aspects of production and process.

The aim of this position is to manage the production/process release to obtain reliable products on time with the required quality, manufactured with capable means and processes, using the provided information, resources and deadlines.

The PE Engineer evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.

All the below tasks are to be executed following the organization’s rules and regulations and by following the established quality procedures and within the project execution framework.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  1. Overall responsible person for respective appointed Project/Process/Production line.
  2. Be part of New Product Release activities, responsible in defining and developing manufacturing process of new products.
  3. Regular and periodic reporting to the superior about the progress of the assigned project/task.
  4. In house process improvement and controlling.
  5. Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  6. Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  7. Keep equipment operational by coordinating with maintenance departments (following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures) requesting special service if necessary.
  8. Maintain product and process database by writing computer programs; entering data.
  9. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  10. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  11. Identify and execute projects for cost savings, cost efficiency and overall effectiveness.
  12. Analysis of the data found in charts, graphs and so forth.
  13. Analysis of operational issues and installation of new equipment.
  14. Prepare process and equipment designs.
  15. Prepare sample lots and run samples.
  16. Make measurements and prepare measurement reports with ppk/cpk and discuss and communicate with project partners (internal and external).
  17. Check BOM@ routings in SAP.
  18. Check and distribute PR documents and coordinate SAP build up.
  19. Create and run PPAP samples.
  20. Coordination of shipment of samples.
  21. Release of production equipment and machines, handover of machines and spare parts to the maintenance departments.
  22. Ordering of fixtures, jigs, tools, equipment, machines etc. from internal or external vendors.
  23. Periodical update of documents (CP PFMEA…).
  24. Supporting Production in controlling of routine operations including weekly production program, work force arrangement and process yield.
  25. Attend daily production meetings and complete assigned tasks and documentation on time.
  26. Monitoring and review of production performance including delivery performance, Quality level and productivity in continuous basis.
  27. To improve production process with collective study and understanding of process parameters requirement with the correct tooling, machinery and measurement equipment.
  28. Perform study and evaluation upon receiving RNCM, ODR, etc.
  29. PR circulation, SAP set up, sample production and monitoring, PPAP document preparation for assigned projects.
  30. Design of equipment, fixtures, gauges, tooling, etc.
  31. Order, follow up, install, set up, release, handover of production equipment.
  32. Preparation/updating and distribution of documents such as control plans, PFMEA, work instruction, etc.
  33. Periodic review and updating of documents.
  34. Perform detail process and equipment analysis in order to perform a process capability, capacity, and failures analysis.
  35. Perform process capability analysis and capacity study.
  36. Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  37. Develop and maintain PFMEA.
  38. Develop and maintain Process Flow and Floor Plans.
  39. Prepare PPAP submission packages to project partners/customers.
  40. Maintain Engineering Change Documentation and Matrix.
  41. Develop safe launches coordinate and track process through manufacturing.
  42. Control Plans definition preparation and execution.
  43. Process validation Plans definition and execution.
  44. Control Means definition and approval.
  45. Process Validation including capability, yield and quality information.
  46. PPAP submissions to customers/internal project partners.
  47. Devising measurement strategy with the manufacturing teams & ordering the necessary equipment.
  48. Capability analysis of all new products/processes.
  49. Checking of equipment and defining of preventive maintenance and plans and check lists.
  50. Prepare investment plans for projects.
  51. Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  52. Provide manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests from within the organization.
  53. Review dimensional inspection including (GD&T) results and suggest improvements.
  54. Assist in conducting internal design reviews and communicate changes to the partners and team.
  55. Liaise with customers/project partners on new projects; manage meetings on site or at customer locations.
  56. CAD & Drawing reviews.
  57. Ensuring project deadlines are met.
  58. Discuss with vendors what supplies and equipment the company needs.
  59. Participate and take responsibilities assigned in project meetings.
  60. Study product design and prepare process designs.
  61. Prepare preliminary documents for initial phases of projects.
  62. Prepare PPAP reports and upload to PLANTA/share with project partners and HODs.

  • Access to SAP system.

  • Work order issuing.
  • GK Claim issuing.
  • Contact to external vendors.
  • Access to PLANTA project management software.
  • Access to APIS software.
  • Access to Minitab/QDAS software.
  • Access to ePR System.
  • Access to ESS System.
  • Access to file servers.
  • Issue temporary specifications for production processes.
  • Issue Voucher raising.

Conditions of Employment and Interaction

Cooperation / adjustment / teamwork with project leaders of other internal departments within BT TPS.

Working closely with TPS management and heads of departments of TPS.

Requirements

Education:

Degree/ Diploma in Engineering Discipline.

Experience:

  • Experience in Manufacturing sector.
  • Experience of working in ISO 9000/QS9000/VDA 6.1 /ISO TS16949 /IATF 16949 Quality system environment.

Knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge of electrical / electronic components.
  • Knowledge in Mechanical engineering.
  • Basic knowledge in pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Basic knowledge in industrial automation.
  • Basic knowledge in Automotive quality standards.
  • Knowledge of working with computers using Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, etc.
  • Knowledge in Statistical process control tools.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant technical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Initial Process Studies and prepare 30pc capability studies and 6 pc dimensional layouts.
  • Solid background in R@R, completing forms and data for PPAP submission.
  • Hands on ISO TS 16949 /IATF 16949 experience.
  • Must be able to understand and interpret designs of plastic parts, assemblies and systems.
  • Good understanding of Manufacturing new product and launch.
  • Good mathematical skills.
  • Solid understanding of injection mold tooling and die cut tooling is a plus.
  • Knowledge of tool and die design preferred.
  • Graphic design knowledge a plus.
