Product Design Manager

Role Overview

We are looking for an empathetic and visionary Product Design Manager to lead our design initiatives in Jakarta. This role is ideal for someone passionate about orchestrating efforts needed to create user-centered designs that are functional, accessible, and inclusive. The successful candidate will develop and execute a robust user research strategy and champion the value of design and user research, ensuring our people and products resonate deeply with our diverse user base.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive a methodical approach to design, ensuring alignment with user needs, business goals, and technical systems.
• Lead product discovery workshops to facilitate cross-functional alignment and innovation.
• Advocate and champion user-centric design principles to stakeholders and other function leaders.
• Inspire the team with exemplary hands-on involvement in design and research activities.
• Conduct and oversee comprehensive qualitative and quantitative user research, using methods such as interviews, surveys, usability testing, and analytics.
• Translate research findings into actionable insights to guide design decisions and product strategy.
• Create and own the user research roadmap, ensuring research efforts are tied to business priorities.
• Partner with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and stakeholders, to create holistic and impactful design solutions.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders to align on product and design goals.
• Develop and implement a user-centered design vision and strategy that enhances product usability, accessibility, and scalability while aligning with VIDA's goals.
• Champion data-driven decision-making, integrating user research and experimentation into design workflows.
• Mentor a team of designers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
• Establish frameworks for career growth, development, and performance assessment.
• Provide actionable feedback and support the professional development of team members.
• Advocate for diversity, accessibility, and inclusivity in all design decisions, ensuring our products are equitable and accessible to diverse users.
• Plan and orchestrate usability testing and live experimentation, gathering actionable feedback to iterate and improve designs.
• Promote a culture of hypothesis-driven design to inform product decisions.
• Maintain and evolve VIDA’s design system to ensure consistency, scalability, and efficiency across products.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in product design, with at least 2 years in a leadership role managing teams.
• Proven experience in advanced user research methods and tools, including persona creation, journey mapping, and behavioral analytics.
• Deep understanding of user experience principles and interaction design patterns.
• Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or equivalent, with a track record of creating innovative and user-centered solutions.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating leadership in user-centered design processes and successful product outcomes across multiple platforms.
• Experience managing, hiring, and mentoring design teams with a track record of fostering inclusive and collaborative work environments.
• Excellent goal-setting, documentation, and communication skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions to non-design stakeholders.
• Ability to balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints effectively.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
• A degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field is preferred but not mandatory if complemented by substantial experience.
