Job Summary:

The Operations Director will serve as a critical member of the senior leadership team, responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of our gold mining assets. This pivotal role demands a seasoned leader with deep technical expertise in gold mining, a proven history of excellence in operational management, and a strategic vision to propel business growth. Responsibilities:

• Operational Leadership:
  • Direct and oversee all facets of mining operations, including exploration, mine planning, extraction, processing, and logistics.
  • Uphold strict adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and productivity.
  • Manage and optimize production schedules and budgets.
  • Establish and maintain robust operational control systems.
• Strategic Planning and Execution:
  • Formulate and execute strategic operational plans that align with the company's overarching business objectives.
  • Identify and assess opportunities for operational expansion and optimization.
  • Contribute to the development of long-term business strategies.
  • Analyze market trends and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions.
• Technical Expertise:
  • Provide expert technical leadership and guidance on all mining-related activities.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of industry best practices in gold mining techniques.
  • Oversee the management of technical resources and equipment.
  • Evaluate and implement cutting-edge technologies to enhance operational performance.
  • Strong understanding of geological models, and resource estimation.
• Commercial Acumen:
  • Develop and manage operational budgets and implement rigorous cost control measures.
  • Analyze production costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Collaborate with the commercial team to optimize gold sales and marketing strategies.
  • Evaluate and manage contracts with suppliers and contractors.
  • Understand the financial aspects of mining operations, including capital expenditure and operating expenses.
• Team Leadership and Development:
  • Build and lead a high-performing operational team.
  • Cultivate a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide mentorship and development opportunities for team members.
  • Ensure seamless communication and collaboration across all departments.
• Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and investors.
  • Represent the company at industry events and conferences.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in gold mining operations, with significant experience in senior leadership roles.
• Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale gold mining operations.
• Extensive technical expertise in all aspects of gold mining, including exploration, extraction, and processing.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic operational plans.
• Exceptional financial and commercial acumen.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Comprehensive knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong understanding of resource estimation, and geological models.
• Experience with international mining standards and best practices.
