Within CO&I, the Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Construction health & safety knowledge
- 5+ years of progressive responsibility in development of Mission Critical Facilities
- Experience working for a General Contractor or trade
- Experience managing multiple large multi-faceted projects
- Detailed understanding of Mechanical and Electrical systems to include integrated testing, MOPs/ SOPs of installation, functionality and troubleshooting
- Experience in directing and/or supporting the commissioning effort
- Ability to independently manage deadlines and support staff
- Ability to work independently in support of the DCD Project
- Cross-group collaborator and influencer across teams and organizations with proven success in participating in cross-functional teams to deliver on key projects
- Must be able to work within a dynamic team of full-time employees and consultants
- High personal standard to deliver a thoughtful, polished and quality work product

Responsibilities
The Data Center Development (DCD) Construction Superintendent MEP role will provide leadership of all field related Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) system mission critical activities and coordinate with DCD Construction Project Manager (CPM), Consultants, OFCI Vendors, General Contractors, Subcontractors and other project stakeholders for proper execution.
The MEP Construction Superintendent is ultimately responsible for:
- the complete project delivery of the MEP scope for each site location, including commissioning.
- ensuring that each project meets the Data Center Development (DCD) guidelines and standards.
- being a relentless advocate for managing a safe worksite.
- collaborating with Microsoft Security, Microsoft IT (MSIT), Legal, Project Engineering, MS Business Risk Management, and other internal groups to maintain the corporate vision and goals for the Project.
Their key responsibilities include:
- Safety Management: Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all MEP works are carried out to the highest quality standards and in compliance with project specifications and drawings.
- Organisation Management: Lead and manage MEP teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among team members and subcontractors.
- Project Planning and Coordination: Oversee the planning, scheduling, and coordination of MEP systems to ensure coordinated, timely and efficient project completion.
- Technical Oversight: Provide technical guidance and support for MEP system detailed designs, fabrication and installation.
- Vendor Management and contract compliance: Provide Vendor oversight and performance management.
- Cost & Risk Management: Monitor and control MEP-related project costs, ensuring efficiency in cost management and adherence to budget constraints.
- Compliance: Ensure all MEP activities comply with local regulations, codes, and standards.
