Mechanical Engineering Design for equipment, components, auxiliary systems and other aspects of the systems related to the projects; particularly on Water, Wastewater, Chemical, Industrial and Ultrapure Water treatment unit operations such as mechanics, pump/fan/blower systems, fluid dynamics, static and rotating equipment, strength or materials, HVAC, firefighting systems, generator sets, lifting equipment, industrial piping, hydraulic systems, pneumatics, energy recovery systems, etc.
Adheres to outstanding standards related to the engineering, regulatory, testing, and quality disciplines.
Applies and provides design techniques to initiate, develop, validate and execute the most cost-effective solutions while maintaining suitability and compliance to specified requirements by the project.
Performs and generates design calculations, design methodology and resolves complex engineering challenges utilizing expert, logical, analysed and validated recommendations.
Performs basic AutoCAD and 3D modelling operation, and interfaces with detail designers for design, drawing and 3D modelling-related review and analyses.
Generates test methodologies, O&M manuals, datasheets, and other documents related to project close-out.
Reviews and generates an evaluation report on client’s requirements, vendor proposals, engineering documentation, drawings; against the requirements of the projects, industry standards and best practices, and proactively provides resolution to non-compliant issues.
Develops, reviews and implements standard specifications and processes, design criteria, procedures, and other quality and technical documents related to the engineering discipline.
Provides interface, active support, and mentoring to colleagues, other design engineers and stakeholders requiring the expertise of this role.
Provides technical inputs to design review, value engineering, HIRAC/HAZCON, and HAZOP exercises.
Undertakes design coordination within the disciplines and ensures an effective communication protocol.
Ensures all the work task is following the requirement in the QMS system.
Ensures an effective effort-duration forecast, and all deliverables are met within the agreed timeline and cost.
Administers, develops, maintains all related engineering drawing templates.
Adheres to company regulations, quality programs, values and standard practices.
Maintains effective communication and attends meetings with clients, vendors and other stakeholders on design and engineering coordination and other relevant functions.
Performs due diligence, site survey and data gathering in order to gain and verify information.
Able to understand Electrical Cable Tray routing and modelled in 3D and 2D drawing.
Able to draw Instrument Hook Up drawing and Electrical Installation details drawing.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, post-graduate attainment would be an added advantage.
Minimum of five (5) years of Mechanical Design experience in Water, Wastewater, Power, Oil & Gas, or Chemical process industries.
Strong understanding of standards and codes, design, operation, testing and commissioning, maintenance, rehabilitation of, and tools related to industrial systems.
Strong orientation in recognized design codes, Occupational Safety and Health standards and HAZOP.
Extensive Data Interpretation and Analysis skills, technical writing and reporting skills.
Effective People and Stakeholder Management skills, Personal productivity and project management skills.
Ability to work and maintain control under pressure.
Able to travel to project sites within BW Water’s business territories on relatively short-notice as-required.
