Market and Competitor Intelligence Manager

The Market and Competitor Intelligence Manager is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and disseminating market and competitive insights to inform strategic decision-making within the pet food sector. This role is crucial for driving informed decision-making and ensuring the company remains competitive in the dynamic pet food market by monitoring industry trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences to support product development, marketing strategies, branding activities, and overall business growth.

  • Market Research: Conduct thorough research on market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape within the pet food industry by utilizing various research methodologies, including surveys, focus groups, and secondary data analysis.
  • Customer and Consumer Insights: Gather and analyze customer and consumer feedback to understand behavior and preferences to improve relevant product offerings.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze data from various sources (e.g., sales reports, market surveys, social media) to identify opportunities and threats, and analyze customer data and feedback to identify trends, preferences, and areas for improvement in products and services.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and presentations on market insights and competitor strategies to senior management and relevant stakeholders, highlighting insights and actionable recommendations for KPI metrics, campaign performance, and market trends to support strategic decisions and industry developments.
  • Competitive Monitoring: Continuously monitor competitors’ product offerings, pricing strategies, market positioning, marketing campaigns, and distribution channels, and prepare SWOT analyses of competitors.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product development, marketing, and sales teams to provide actionable insights that drive business strategies based on market intelligence, and facilitate workshops and training sessions to share insights and foster a data-driven culture within the organization.
  • Customer and Consumer Relationship Management (CCRM): Develop and maintain customer and consumer relationship management, and develop & execute customer engagement strategies to foster strong relationships with pet food customers and consumers, analyzing customer big data to identify patterns and insights that can inform marketing strategies.
  • Campaign Management: Suggest targeted marketing campaigns, including loyalty programs and promotions, to enhance customer retention.
  • Customer Support: Oversee customer service initiatives, ensuring timely resolution of inquiries and complaints to maintain high satisfaction levels.
  • Strategic Recommendations: Provide strategic recommendations based on market intelligence to enhance competitive positioning and drive growth.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Market Insight Accuracy: Measure the accuracy and relevance of market insights provided, assessed through feedback from stakeholders.
  • Track the number of competitor activities monitored and reported on a monthly basis.
  • CRM Engagement Metrics: Evaluate customer engagement levels through CRM analytics, including customer retention rates and satisfaction scores.
  • Report Timeliness: Assess the percentage of reports delivered on time to management and other stakeholders (Weekly, Monthly, Bi-weekly, Quarterly).
  • Actionable Recommendations: Monitor the implementation rate of recommendations made based on market and competitor analysis.
  • Market Share Growth: Track changes in market share as a result of insights and strategies derived from market intelligence efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: A degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Food Science, Statistics, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Proven experience of at least 5 years in market research, brand strategy, competitive analysis, or a similar role, preferably in the pet food or consumer goods industry. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights. Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey findings effectively to diverse audiences. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and data visualization/digital tools. Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, and strategic thinking skills. Familiarity with the pet food industry and its regulatory environment. Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Creative mindset and innovation in developing new things.
  • Passion: Passion for pet care and understanding of pet owner needs. Ability to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration. Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
