Job description

Wahana Visi Indonesia is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to work and collaborate to empower the most vulnerable children, families, and communities through community development, advocacy, and emergency response for sustainable transformation regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender.

Since 1998, Wahana Visi Indonesia has carried out various community development programs focusing on children. Hundreds of thousands of children in Indonesia have benefited from WVI’s accompaniment program. Wahana Visi Indonesia is a trusted partner of World Vision International.

Key Responsibilities:

World Vision Korea, together with Wahana Visi Indonesia, through the Mangrove Adaptive and Resilient Village for Enhanced Livelihoods by Adopting Sustainable and Environmentally-friendly Aquaculture (MARVEL SEA), developed a mangrove ecosystem rehabilitation and livelihood improvement program. This program is implemented in Surabaya City with a duration of 23 months from November 2024 - October 2026. The main activities are to carry out mangrove rehabilitation and conservation efforts in two villages, where the land condition is currently active and abandoned ponds. The Project Coordinator will be generally responsible for overall project implementation. In technical scope, he/she will be directly implementing community development activities, such as community engagement, capacity building, and responsible for mangrove-related intervention and coordinating any preparation to enter the Voluntary Carbon Market.

  1. Strategy Development & Planning:
    • Develop implementation strategy and plan of the project activities, especially for responsible mangrove-related intervention and coordinating any preparation to enter the Voluntary Carbon Market.
    • Provide technical support to the project implementation and AP (if needed).
    • Adapt and modify as necessary the project strategy and plan (if needed). Any modification should be discussed and approved with/by donor.
    • Develop Terms of References and budget for the required project activities and work cooperatively with finance and admin officer to ensure budget is controllable and aligns with finance procedures.
  2. Capacity Building:
    • Facilitate the stakeholders, including communities to be trained properly based on project work plan.
    • Together with Mangrove Management Advisor and NO Specialists develop and/or compile relevant materials for capacity building.
  3. Accountability & Quality Assurance:
    • Review and provide technical inputs to the process and result of Baseline and Endline Study.
    • Supervise the Mangrove Management Advisor results and responsibilities in the context of ensuring the target and monthly progress.
    • Deliver monthly report and ITT progress.
  4. Project Monitoring:
    • Ensure all the required data are compiled to provide monthly project progress under ITT performance.
    • Closely monitor the project achievements based on project MEAL Plan.
    • Ensure all project activities comply with the Environmental Safeguarding or Penatalayanan Lingkungan Policy.
  5. Networking & Coordination:
    • Engage local communities and related stakeholders to collaborate during project implementation in ways that are possible.
    • Build strong relationships and networks with key stakeholders during project lifetime to align the government programs with the project activities.
  6. Management & Leadership:
    • Lead and oversee the project implementation and responsible for mangrove-related intervention and coordinating any preparation to enter Voluntary Carbon Market.
    • Create an enabling and positive team environment where staff can facilitate a working environment of mutual trust, respect, and care among all related staff.
    • Facilitate effective teamwork, coordination, and work planning among project team, zone, and AP to ensure program implementation as standard and achieve the targets.
    • Monitor the context of target areas on an ongoing basis and recommend adjustments to project plans and management in light of changing context, resources, and opportunities (if necessary).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, Social Science, Development Planning, or other relevant fields.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in community development programs or mangrove interventions.
  • Extensive knowledge in community development or community economic empowerment.
  • Experience in communication and/or coordination with sub-national government bodies, development partners, and communities.
  • Strong report formulation skill and data analysis.
  • Familiar with community economic empowerment approach.
  • Experience in project management and implementation.
  • Strong computer literacy skills, including MS Office, email, and internet.
  • Good knowledge in mangrove intervention program is beneficial.
  • Experience in working with NGO is a plus. Willing to be stationed in Surabaya City.
