Lead - QA Mechanical and Piping

Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara is an Indonesian mining company which operates the copper and gold mining and has a long-term expected mine life followed by processing stockpiles.

To support our Quality Project team, we are looking for highly motivated and experienced professionals to fill the following position:

LEAD – QA MECHANICAL & PIPING

(National - Site Based)

Some of your duties will include:

• The Lead – QA Mechanical & Piping is responsible for ensuring quality assurance (QA) compliance across all mechanical and piping works for the expansion project and ongoing operations & maintenance activities. This role involves leading QA processes, coordinating with engineering and construction teams, and ensuring that all mechanical and piping work meets regulatory, safety, and industry standards.
• Quality Assurance & Compliance:
• Establish and implement QA procedures for mechanical and piping work.
• Ensure compliance with industry codes (e.g., ASME, API, AWS, ISO), regulatory requirements, and company standards.
• Conduct quality audits, inspections, and testing on mechanical and piping systems.
• Develop and maintain Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Control Plans (QCPs).
• Project & Site-wide QA Support:
• Provide QA oversight for mechanical and piping activities in both the expansion project and ongoing operations & maintenance.
• Monitor welding, fabrication, installation, and testing activities to ensure they meet quality standards.
• Support commissioning activities by verifying system integrity and adherence to mechanical & piping specifications.
• Supervision & Coordination:
• Lead and mentor a team of QA/QC inspectors.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to resolve quality issues.
• Coordinate with third-party inspectors and certification bodies as required.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain records of quality inspections, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective actions.
• Prepare QA reports for management and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure proper documentation for welding procedures, material certifications, and pressure testing.
• Implement best practices to improve QA processes and reduce defects.
• Conduct training and awareness programs on mechanical & piping quality standards.
• Investigate and resolve quality-related issues and recommend improvements.

What skills and experience do you need?

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Knowledge of international standards (ASME, API, AWS, ISO 9001, NACE, ASTM, etc.); Strong expertise in welding inspection, NDT techniques, hydrotesting, and piping QA processes; Proficiency in using QA/QC software, inspection tools, and reporting systems.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, material specifications, and welding procedures.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to manage teams effectively; Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities; Good communication skills for reporting and coordination with multidisciplinary teams; Strong stakeholder management; Have financial and commercial knowledge; Strong understanding and application of risk management principles.
• Has experience minimum 5 years working as Lead/Superintendent Quality Assurance for mechanical & piping with minimum 12 – 15 years of experience in QA/QC for Mechanical and Piping systems in heavy industry, mining, or oil & gas projects; Having experience working in both project expansion and maintenance environments.
• Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate; Familiarity with digital quality management tools and software.
