We’re hiring a Housekeeping Assistant Manager to Live. Work. Explore. at the south rim of the Grand Canyon!
Job Summary: Support Housekeeping Manager in daily operations, to include room inspection, deep cleaning, opening duties and staff supervision. Ensure cleanliness and guest service standards are consistently maintained.
The Details:
Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Pay: $38,896.00
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities- Support Housekeeping Manager with daily operations, and manage housekeeping functions of lodging unit to established standards during Housekeeping Manager’s absence.
- Inspect daily, entire assigned section (guest rooms, linen rooms, hallways, grounds etc.) to ensure cleanliness, safety and proper condition to meet or exceed departmental and company standards.
- Perform deep cleaning tasks monthly or as assigned in guest rooms and adhere to scheduled bed linen washing and carpet cleaning schedules.
- Perform opening duties for Rooms Department/Housekeeping as assigned.
- Report condition and status of guest rooms to desk in efficient and timely manner.
- Maintain and uphold all company policies, assist in the development of assigned employees through training and performance enhancement.
- In the absence of the Housekeeping Manager, lead and manage housekeeping staffs’ performance including training/coaching and corrective actions when needed. Handle administrative duties including writing schedules, maintaining daily email communication, follow up on guest complaints, safety issues, and maintain employees’ files/paperwork and report to Housekeeping Manager and the Rooms office.
- Control keys, master and guest room keys, and maintain security of all guest rooms, both occupied and unoccupied.
- Enforce safety regulations, precautions, and information to provide a safe working atmosphere for self and employees assigned.
- Communicate effectively with Housekeeping Manager, Rooms Office staff, Front Desk, Maintenance, Porter staff, Laundry staff and other departments and guests.
- Maintain a courteous and helpful behavior toward guests and fellow employees. Exercise tact and discretion at all times while on duty.
- Participate in established programs designed to further professional growth and development.
- Assume duties of a guest room attendant when necessary and be able to effectively carry out duties of any assigned inspector shift.
- Adhere to all Xanterra South Rim and NPS lost and found procedures.
- Adhere to all safety, risk management and environmental policies in performing tasks, including wearing required personal protective equipment.
- Assist with scheduled inventories for linens, amenities & cleaning supplies.
- Ability to communicate with a 2-way device while on duty.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Previous lodging inspector or other housekeeping experience.
- Supervisory experience preferred, with demonstrated ability to direct, supervise and maintain morale among staff.
- Ability to effectively listen to, understand and respond to concerns raised by employees or guests.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and basic computer skills.
- Able to meet all physical requirements of the job, which include repetitive motion of all extremities and the back including continual kneeling, bending, twisting, lifting, pushing and long periods of standing/walking.
- Ability to maintain high quality of work & high energy while taking more than 15,000-20,000 steps per work day at an elevation of 7,000 ft.
- Physical Requirements include:
- Able to meet all physical requirements of the job, which include repetitive motion of all extremities and the back including continual kneeling, bending, twisting, lifting, pushing and long periods of standing/walking.
- Occasionally climbing, crawling, squatting and/or kneeling.
- Ability to maintain high quality of work & high energy while taking more than 15,000-20,000 steps per work day at an elevation of 7,000 ft.
- Frequently lifting and carrying 20 pounds, occasionally lifting and carrying up to 100 pounds.
- Frequently pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds.
