Job Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and safety-conscious professional to join our team as a Health & Safety Manager (APAC). The Health & Safety Manager (APAC) is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health and safety policies and procedures across the Asia-Pacific region. This role ensures compliance with local, national, and company regulations, promotes a culture of safety, and continuously improves health and safety performance. They will conduct training, perform audits, investigate incidents, and engage with stakeholders to promote a safe working environment.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Demonstrate strong Health and Safety leadership and compliance. Ensure visibility throughout all activities relating to the area of control, to deliver clear and consistent communications and support with “Health is our Mission, Safety is Critical” approach.
  2. Lead and oversee the performance and compliance of employees and contractors, ensuring strict adherence to health, safety and environment (HSE) standards. Ensure all legal requirements are met and necessary training is completed for work on customer and clients sites across APAC.
  3. Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, national, and company regulations.
  4. Stay updated on current legislation, guidance, industry standards, and best practices to ensure all worksites meet legal requirements.
  5. Share knowledge and expertise on new legislation and regulatory requirements to enhance the skills and capabilities of the team and overall company.
  6. Ensure safety inductions, toolbox talks, training sessions, and briefings are conducted regularly and documented by the relevant departments. Verify that all training qualifications are current and up to date.
  7. Oversee the safety tours and inspections programme to ensure that all operatives are regularly visited by their respective project line managers.
  8. Conduct safety training and awareness programs for employees to promote a culture of safety.
  9. Perform regular safety audits and inspections, recommending corrective actions as needed.
  10. Investigate accidents and incidents as necessary, document detailed reports and recommend preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.
  11. Monitor, assess, and apply existing or emerging regional EHS regulations, policies, and industry practices to ensure compliance.
  12. Maintain records and statistics on safety performance, and report on health and safety metrics.
  13. Liaise with employees, subcontractors, and suppliers on health and safety matters as required.
  14. Support the development of measurement systems to ensure that health and safety performance is accurately monitored and continuously improved.
  15. Lead in all areas of H&SE to scope and deliver complex projects, ensuring compliance and excellent standards.
  16. Work in collaboration with key internal stakeholders, customers, clients, and operational project managers on all aspects of H&SE to identify opportunities for improved efficiencies and provide recommendations on best practice.
  17. Represent the business, upholding our core values and behaviours with all internal and external customers, clients and third parties.
  18. Maintain business and client confidentiality, adhering to applicable Data Protection regulations and Information Security Standards in line with company, and group policies and procedures.

Qualifications: Skills and Experience

  1. Extensive experience in health and safety management within the APAC region.
  2. In-depth understanding of regional health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
  3. Strong leadership abilities to guide and motivate teams towards achieving health and safety goals.
  4. Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing major or large-scale projects.
  5. Significant international experience.
  6. High level of attention to detail to ensure all safety protocols are meticulously followed.
  7. Ability to work under pressure and deliver results to tight deadlines.
  8. Skilled in managing and responding to health and safety incidents, including emergency response planning.
  9. Proficient in conducting thorough risk assessments and implementing effective risk mitigation strategies.
  10. Strong problem-solving skills to address and resolve health and safety challenges effectively.
  11. Expertise in designing and delivering health and safety training programs.
  12. Competent in managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and compliant delivery.
  13. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely. Fluency in English language is required.
  14. Proficiency in IT skills, including Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint).

Certifications:

  1. Certified AK3 (Occupational Health and Safety Expert) required.
  2. Certified SMK3 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System) required.
  3. Certification of ISO 14001 (environmental management system) is highly desirable.
  4. Certification of ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety management system) is highly desirable.
