Job Description

• Manage the mill operation in a visible and hands-on manner ensuring that all aspects of the operation are meeting performance expectations.
• Execute day-to-day production plans, setting clear expectations with supervisors and employees, and holding the team accountable for meeting key performance metrics.
• Protect and maintain the assets of the plant, directing all aspects and areas of maintenance. Design and implement long-term continuous improvement applications and systems to enhance the longevity of the site's equipment.
• Exhibit leadership in a safety-first culture, incorporating conduct, policy/procedures, and best practice programs to ensure the safest possible environment for our employees.
• Develop effective and positive working relationships within the plant, as well as other functional areas within the business.
• Prepare, analyze, and issue production and performance reports to ensure effective return on assets and continuous improvement of employees.

Requirements

• Experience with technical lumber processing and/or common lumber manufacturing practices.
• Knowledge of timber markets.
• Safety/Environmental Knowledge: Compliance with all Federal and State regulations, best environmental practices, and company policies and procedures.
• Must serve as a role model for safe industrial behavior.
• Management/Leadership Skills: Capacity to lead staff and motivate teams in a continuous improvement work environment. Set business expectations and lead the organization to the successful achievement of goals modeling desired behaviors/values, and empowering self-directed work teams. Proven successful management and supervisory skills.
• Product Knowledge: Working with internal and external vendors to ensure production levels, sales values, product quality, and customer expectations.
