Head of Engineering

About the role,

The Head of Engineering has both a strategic and a technical role inside the company. The strategic aspect includes setting goals for the team, hiring engineers, and prioritizing projects. The technical aspect involves actively developing new products, identifying requirements, and setting timelines.

Before they can obtain this position, the Head of Engineering should have extensive experience as an engineer, manage complex tech projects, and know how to build products and features from scratch.

About the team,

Our technology/engineering team consists of 100+ talented individuals. Together with the Product teams, our role is to create innovative and scalable solutions to help Amartha grow its business.

Responsibilities

1. Oversee front-end and back-end development teams and their projects
2. Monitor the reliability and performance of all internal systems to suggest improvements
3. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations
4. Manage software development projects by setting requirements, goals, and timelines
5. Design strategies for future development projects based on the company’s overall objectives and resources
6. Hire engineers and coordinate their training
7. Implement innovative technologies
8. Coordinate with stakeholders for new integrations and tools

Minimum Qualifications

1. Experience in developing data-intensive applications is a must
2. Experience in SaaS development
3. Experience in open API development
4. Solid enterprise integration architecture knowledge
5. Experience in leading a squad of 5-10 people
6. Solid engineer hiring experience

Technical Skills

1. Hands-on GCP tech experience: Cloud SQL Postgres, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, etc.
2. Experience building scalable architecture
3. Experience with incident management
4. Monitoring distributed systems
5. Agile practices: Scrum or Kanban
6. Willingness to code when required
7. Experience with CI/CD
8. Experience with automated testing
9. Experience with team management
10. Fintech/financial institution/banking experience
11. Experience with Machine Learning is a plus
12. Experience with TDD
13. Experience with refactoring large systems
14. Experience with event-driven architecture
15. Experience with Kafka, Kubernetes, Grafana, Prometheus is a plus
