Job Summary:
The Engineering Training Specialist will develop and conduct all general engineering and required certification classes for engineering employees.
The Details:
Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Pay: $17.85+ DOE
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)
Housing: Eligible for a private room in a shared apartment for $267 per month.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver in-person classroom training to maintenance and engineering staff on OSHA and ADOSH topics including, but not limited to, Respiratory Protection, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, Walking and Working Surfaces, Electrical Safety, Asbestos and Lead Hazard Awareness, Personal Protective Equipment, Hazard Communication, Motor Vehicle Safety, Bloodborne Pathogens, Compressed Gases, Hand and Power Tools, Powered Industrial Vehicles, and Noise Protection. Approximately 65% of work time will be spent delivering content in a classroom environment.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to analyze learning needs that optimize employee learning outcomes.
- Conduct training needs assessments for all engineering employees, and document the required health, safety, and environmental training by employees and position.
- Facilitate/organize skills training for the engineering department. Topics must include:
- Historic preservation and skills
- Current construction code
- Hazardous materials handling
- New techniques and technologies
- Collaborate with the Learning and Development Manager, Corporate Learning and Development to update e-learning platform.
- Facilitate Sustainability training.
- Maintain current certifications (as required for training curriculum), and participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to obtain useful information for updating current training programs.
- Conduct Engineering Department Orientation for all new engineering department employees, including uniform, attendance, work and safety policies and procedures.

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Maintain OSHA 30-hour certification.
- Minimum of two years of recent experience in the engineering trade.
- Minimum of one year of experience providing technical safety training.
- First Aid/CPR/AED or the ability to acquire CPR/First Aid certification within 6 months of hire.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent organizational and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting effective training to employees of all levels providing technical safety training and/or working in a safe environment.
- Strong and effective communicator in all professional relationships while building a positive working rapport with department trainers, managers, and supervisors.
- Experience in creating training calendars, visual aids, teaching aids and class outlines, utilizing print, audio-visual media, and electronic/virtual learning methods.
- Ability to be flexible across training mediums (in-person, blended, remote), able to tailor to your audience and consider factors such as culture, technology, and learning styles.
- Project a positive and welcoming presentation for staff, representing the training materials and company most encouragingly.
- Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint software Learning Management System experience, is a plus.
- Ability to obtain a valid Arizona Driver’s License and comply with the Xanterra South Rim Company Vehicle Policy.
- Ability to work independently in a productive manner to complete projects.
