Job description

The mission of Peace Corps worldwide is to promote peace and friendship. Peace Corps was invited to Indonesia in 2010. Hundreds of Peace Corps Volunteers have worked as teachers in Indonesia since then. The work of a Peace Corps Personal Services Contractor (PSC) does not limit itself to the role: active support of the Peace Corps mission is paramount to the job because contractors are representatives of Peace Corps in Indonesia.

Position Summary

Major Responsibilities

Program Support
  1. Collaborate with the Program Team Unit (PTU) to ensure comprehensive volunteer management, including documentation and guidance.
  2. Assist the Executive and Communications Coordinator (ECC), Program Specialists (PS), and Program Manager in compiling volunteer information for reports and promotional materials aimed at GOI partners and stakeholders.
  3. Work with the General Services Manager/Assistant to arrange transportation and logistics for PTU-related activities.
  4. Support site identification and preparation efforts, coordinating visits to prospective volunteer locations with PSs.
Training Support
  1. Provide logistical and administrative support for all training events, including Pre-Service Training (PST) and In-Service Training (IST).
  2. Partner with the Training Manager (TM), Language and Cultural Coordinator (LCC), and General Services Manager (GSM) to organize travel and logistical arrangements for training participants.
  3. Coordinate logistical needs for Resource Volunteers (RVs) and guest speakers during training sessions.
  4. Assist the TM and LCC in establishing collaborative contacts with Peace Corps for training initiatives.
  5. Serve as the primary point of contact for Peace Corps Washington and Volunteers-in-Training (PCTs) regarding the Global Connection program.
  6. Facilitate training sessions as needed and support the TM in budget management for training activities.
  7. Prepare training reports for TM review and approval.
  8. Participate in Language Proficiency Interview (LPI) Workshops, achieving tester certification to evaluate language proficiency of trainees and volunteers.
Database and Digital Asset Management
  1. Collaborate with Quality Assurance Specialist (QAS), PTU, and Safety and Security Manager (SSM) to maintain and update site history files in VIDA and other databases.
  2. Document and share detailed information about host families, workplaces, and sites for matching meetings.
  3. Timely update training databases and assist in designing courses in the Peace Corps’ Learning Management System (LMS).
  4. Serve as course coordinator and reviewer for Learning Space.
Trainee and Volunteer Support
  1. Assist the TM in the Training Design and Assessment (TDA) process, including learning and development planning.
  2. Build relationships with local schools to facilitate teaching practicum experiences for PCTs.
  3. Provide guidance to trainees and volunteers on policies and procedures.
  4. Update and finalize the Volunteer Support Handbook and Trainee Handbook for Country Director approval.
Materials and Resource Development
  1. Identify and share resources beneficial to volunteer activities, including managing the Quarterly Volunteer Newsletter.
  2. Compile and distribute best practices for PCVs for training and reporting purposes.
  3. Update both printed and electronic resources for trainees and volunteers, recommending TEFL or other teaching materials for procurement.
  4. Serve as IRC Manager, overseeing the Volunteer Resource Center and maintaining an organized library.
  5. Promote resources through various media, including Learning Space and newsletters, ensuring volunteers are informed about new materials.

Qualifications

  1. Education: University/college degree required
  2. Work experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience working in related field(s), have English teaching experience
  3. Language Proficiency: High proficiency in oral and written English and fluency in Bahasa Indonesia
  4. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Must have knowledge and understanding of culture difference (intercultural competence) to work in a cross-cultural setting as a part of an intercultural team. Contribute to process improvements by assessing, analyzing, and recommending solutions. Demonstrated experience in monitoring and evaluating training events and demonstrated experience in creative and innovative solutions. Ability to coordinate effectively with other units and external parties in achieving specific objectives.
  5. Office Software and Data Entry: Must be highly proficient in use of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook). Must possess ability to provide fast and accurate data entry into online systems.
