As a company with a global presence, Van Oord increasingly relies on quality of data to support decision making. This is especially key in cost estimating where we are focused on building a strong and reliable foundation for our department’s data infrastructure and estimating capabilities. The team you will be joining is the development team of the cost engineering department at Van Oord. Cost engineers at Van Oord make predictions or forecasts of project costs over time, and such predictions are needed from first initiation until the completion of our projects. For our cost engineering department, we are developing the data analytics capability that can provide predictive models of project costs. In this role, you will lay the foundation of this cost data analysis capability. Initially, your focus is on creating value for cost engineers using data analysis. Over time, you will be responsible for designing and implementing processes for cost data analysis to make predictions based on data from our operations. As a cost data analyst, you help (internal) customers to work with large quantities of data by facilitating access to clear key insights and KPIs. You identify and investigate opportunities for new insights by analysing data from our projects in operations for use in our estimating processes.

ABOUT YOU
You like being in a culture where sharing ideas and helping out your colleagues is driving improvement. You are a flexible and social person who also has strong analytical skills. You are a data analyst. In addition, you have:
➢ A Bachelor or Master degree in Offshore, Maritime, Civil Engineering or similar;
➢ Affinity with Cost Engineering;
➢ Technical skills in Power Query (Excel) and/or Python;
➢ Experience with Cost Estimating Software (preferably Cleopatra);
➢ At least 3 years of relevant work experience in a role as data analyst;
➢ Good command of the English language, spoken and written.

ABOUT THE TEAM
In the position of Cost Data Analyst, you will be part of one of the Van Oord teams in Indonesia. Currently, 20 people are working from the office in Cibubur, just South of Jakarta, as part of the Van Oord Engineering & Estimating Department, located in The Netherlands. In this office, you will be the first Cost Data Analyst and in total, this team within Van Oord consists of 5 people (working in the Netherlands).
