Job Description
Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers.
Evaluate suppliers based on criteria such as quality, reliability, cost, and compliance.
Establish a vendor selection process that includes requests for proposals (RFPs) or requests for quotations (RFQs) as needed.
Negotiate contracts with selected suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.
Include clauses for delivery schedules, quality standards, pricing mechanisms, and dispute resolution.
Collaborate with legal counsel if necessary to review and finalize contracts.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with key suppliers.
Schedule regular meetings with suppliers to discuss performance, issues, and improvement opportunities.
Implement inventory management systems to track stock levels and reorder points.
Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries, minimizing stockouts and excess inventory.
Monitor market pricing trends and conduct cost analysis to identify opportunities for savings.
Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers to secure competitive rates.
Implement cost-saving strategies such as bulk purchasing, supplier consolidation, or value engineering.
Develop risk mitigation plans to address identified risks proactively.
Maintain alternate supplier options and contingency plans to minimize disruptions.
Engage with various departments to understand their procurement needs and requirements.
Align purchasing strategies with departmental goals and overall company objectives.
Foster communication and collaboration to ensure efficient procurement processes.
Regularly review procurement processes and procedures to identify areas for optimization.
Implement improvements to enhance work rate, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Create budgets for procurement activities, including material purchases and supplier contracts.
Verify all documents related to procurement activities, including purchase orders, invoices, and contracts.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation for payment preparation and record-keeping purposes.
The Successful Applicant
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field. Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) preferred.
Minimum of 10 years experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably in the agriculture or plantation industry.
Strong negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to drive cost savings and optimize supplier relationships.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
Knowledge of sustainability practices and ethical sourcing standards.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build strong vendor relationships.
Strategic mindset with the ability to think critically and make data-driven decisions.
