General/Business Unit Manager (CEO & General Management)

Our Client: well-established company from Singapore dedicated to the manufacturing and distribution of automotive and industrial products. They have operations in Asia, Europe, Middle East, and Latin America.

As part of our growth and expansion strategy, we are seeking a high performing General Manager of Sales to be based in a Mexico sales & distribution centre.

Job Summary:

The General Manager of Sales is responsible for overseeing the sales operations within the distribution company, developing and executing sales strategies, and ensuring the achievement of sales targets. This role involves leading the sales team, managing key accounts, and driving revenue growth while maintaining high standards of customer service and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and business objectives.
    • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to identify growth opportunities and threats.
    • Create and manage sales plans and budgets to ensure alignment with company goals.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate the sales team to enhance performance and achieve individual and team sales targets.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and identify training needs to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Foster a positive and high-performance sales culture within the team.
  • Oversee daily sales operations, including managing key accounts, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely order fulfillment.
  • Implement effective sales processes and procedures to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor sales performance metrics and adjust strategies as needed to optimize results.
  • Customer Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders to drive customer loyalty and retention.
    • Address and resolve customer issues and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and partnerships to expand the customer base.
  • Collaboration and Coordination:
    • Work closely with other departments (e.g., marketing, finance, logistics) to ensure alignment and support for sales initiatives.
    • Coordinate with the distribution team to manage inventory levels, ensure product availability, and optimize supply chain efficiency.
    • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on sales performance, market trends, and strategic initiatives.
  • Budget and Financial Management:
    • Develop and manage the sales department budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.
    • Monitor sales revenue, expenses, and profitability, and take corrective actions as necessary to achieve financial goals.
  • Market and Industry Insights:
    • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive activities to make informed strategic decisions.
    • Conduct market research and analysis to understand customer needs and preferences.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience in a senior sales management role, preferably from a distribution company, FMCG sector or related industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of achieving sales targets.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in sales software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on results and continuous improvement.
  • Willing to be placed overseas (Mexico)

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in developing and executing sales strategies for multiple channels.
  • Knowledge of distribution logistics and supply chain management.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
