Lead - QA Painting

Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara is an Indonesian mining company which operates the copper and gold mining and have a long-term expected mine life followed by processing stockpiles.

To support our Quality Project team, we are looking for highly motivated and experienced professionals to fill the following position:

LEAD – QA PAINTING

(National - Site Based)

Some of your duties will include:

• The Lead – QA Painting is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality and compliance of all painting and coating activities across the site, covering both expansion projects and operations maintenance. This role ensures that all protective coating and painting activities meet company specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements to enhance the durability of structures, equipment, and pipelines in a highly corrosive mining environment.
• Quality Assurance & Compliance:
• Develop, implement, and maintain painting and coating quality control procedures and inspection plans.
• Ensure all painting and coating works comply with company specifications, project requirements, and industry standards (e.g., NACE, SSPC, ISO 12944, ASTM).
• Conduct routine inspections and audits of painting and coating processes, including surface preparation, application, and curing.
• Ensure proper documentation and records of inspections, testing, and compliance reports.
• Address and resolve non-conformance issues related to painting and coating works.
• Project & Maintenance Support:
• Provide QA support for both new expansion projects and ongoing operations & maintenance activities across the mining site.
• Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and maintenance teams to ensure painting and coating quality is upheld.
• Monitor performance of coatings and recommend preventive or corrective actions to enhance durability and minimize corrosion risks.
• Inspection & Testing:
• Supervise and perform quality control inspections on painting and coating activities, including surface profile, environmental conditions, dry film thickness (DFT), adhesion testing, and holiday detection.
• Ensure all testing equipment is properly calibrated and used correctly by inspectors and contractors.
• Review and approve contractors’ painting procedures, inspection test plans (ITPs), and method statements.
• Evaluate and approve contractors’ and suppliers’ painting and coating qualifications.
• Conduct pre-qualification audits and vendor assessments to ensure compliance with standards.
• Provide training and guidance to contractors and site personnel on painting and coating quality requirements.
• Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance:
• Ensure all painting and coating activities are carried out safely and in compliance with site HSE policies.
• Monitor the use of hazardous materials (paints, coatings, thinners) and ensure proper handling and disposal.
• Promote safety culture within the QA/QC and painting teams.

What skills and experience do you need?

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Materials, Corrosion Engineering, or related field.
• Has experience minimum 5 years working as Lead/Superintendent Quality Assurance for Painting and Coating With minimum 12 – 15 years of experience in QA/QC painting and coating in heavy industries (preferably mining, oil & gas, or infrastructure); Extensive experience in protective coatings for steel structures, pipelines, corrosion protection; coating inspection techniques.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to manage teams effectively; Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities; Good communication skills for reporting and coordination with multidisciplinary teams; Strong stakeholder management; Have financial and commercial knowledge; Strong understanding and application of risk management principles.
• Knowledge of surface preparation techniques (abrasive blasting, hydro-blasting, mechanical cleaning); Familiarity with international painting and coating standards (e.g., NACE, SSPC, ISO 12944, ASTM D3359); Proficiency in inspection and testing methods (DFT measurement, adhesion testing, holiday detection); Understanding of paint application methods (airless spray, brush, roller) and curing requirements; Ability to review and approve painting procedures, ITPs, and method statements.
• Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate; Familiarity with digital quality management tools and software.
