Become a Freelance Audio/Video Transcriber for Our Research Team:

The Transcriber is responsible for listening to audio or video recordings and accurately transcribing them into written format. This role requires excellent listening skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in grammar and punctuation to ensure that transcripts are clear and accurate.

Responsibilities:

1. Listen to audio or watch video files and transcribe spoken words into text.
2. Ensure that the transcription is accurate, capturing all details, including speaker identification, timestamps, and non-verbal cues where necessary (e.g., laughter, background noise).
3. Review and proofread transcripts to ensure grammatical accuracy and completeness.
4. Edit transcripts for readability, without altering the original meaning of the spoken words.
5. Follow specific formatting guidelines provided by the research or PM team.
6. Add timestamps or captions where required, especially for video content.
7. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive or personal information mentioned in the audio or video recordings.
8. Adhere to deadlines for transcription deliveries.

What you will need:

1. High school diploma or equivalent. A degree in English, Journalism, or Communications is a plus but not required.
2. Prior experience as a transcriptionist or relevant role is advantageous.
3. Experience with transcription tools such as Express Scribe, Otter.ai, or Descript is preferred.
4. Excellent listening skills and strong attention to detail.
5. Fast and accurate typing skills (typically 60+ words per minute).
6. Familiarity with grammar, punctuation, and proper sentence structure.
7. Proficiency in using audio/video playback software.
8. Proficient in English listening and writing is a plus.
