Job description

We’re seeking an Art Director for our Retail and Distribution business unit, www.fromalphabet.co. The Art Director will play a vital role in shaping the visual identity and brand communication across various channels. The role will lead the works on campaigns, lookbooks, and in-store displays to create visually compelling brand experiences that resonate with the target audience.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Brand Stewardship:
    a. Visual Identity: Maintaining and evolving the company's visual identity, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints (logo, colour palettes, typography, imagery).
    b. Brand Guidelines: Developing and enforcing brand guidelines to ensure consistent application of the visual identity across all departments and marketing materials.
  2. Marketing & Advertising:
    a. Campaign Development: Leading the visual design for marketing campaigns, including online and offline advertising, brochures, catalogues, and promotional materials.
    b. Packaging Design: Overseeing the design of product packaging to ensure it is visually appealing, on-brand, and effectively communicates product information.
    c. Web & Digital Design: Collaborating with web developers and UX/UI designers to ensure the website and online presence align with the brand's visual identity.
    d. Social Media: Guiding the visual content creation for social media platforms, maintaining a consistent brand aesthetic and engaging visual storytelling.
  3. In-Store Experience:
    a. Visual Merchandising: Collaborating with the merchandising team to create visually appealing and effective product displays, store layouts, and signage.
    b. Point-of-Sale Materials: Designing point-of-sale materials like posters, banners, and shelf talkers to attract customer attention and promote products.
  4. Team Management:
    a. Leadership: Leading and mentoring a team of designers, providing creative direction, feedback, and guidance.
    b. Collaboration: Working closely with other departments, such as marketing, sales, and product development, to ensure alignment on visual communication strategies.
  5. Market Research:
    a. Trend Awareness: Keeping up-to-date with the latest design trends, technologies, and best practices in the retail and distribution industry.
    b. Competitive Analysis: Analyzing the visual communication strategies of competitors to identify opportunities for differentiation and improvement.

Requirements:

  1. The Art Director needs to be versatile and adaptable, balancing creative vision with practical considerations, such as budget constraints and production timelines.
  2. Strong leadership qualities, communication, collaboration, and project management skills are essential for success in this role.
  3. Three or more years of proven working experience as Art Director.
  4. Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, fine arts, interior design, architecture or related field.
  5. Hands-on experience with logo design, typography, colour, web layout design, print production, image selection, package design, and 3D modelling is a plus.
  6. Proficient use of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, or other visual design and wireframing tools; demonstrable design skills with a strong portfolio.
  7. Passion for design and always thinking of ways to improve.
  8. Dynamic, creative personality, effective at engaging and influencing various audiences.
