ZLS Senior Data Analyst - Fixed-Term Contract (12 months)

Working hours: This role is available on a part-time, job-share or full-time basis.

Salary: circa £50-£60k depending on experience plus an excellent benefits package

Location: Availability to be in London Office twice a week, other days working from Home.

The opportunity:

Join our team as a Senior Data Analyst for 1 year fixed term and transform data into actionable insights. You will analyse large historical datasets, collaborate with stakeholders to understand portfolios, and present trends at regular meetings. Your role involves using innovative analytical techniques to solve business challenges, designing predictive models, and driving continuous data quality improvement. What are we looking for?

Education & Experience:

We prefer candidates with a degree, apprenticeship, or diploma in a numerical discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Science. Experience in coding, particularly with SQL and Python, is essential, though other languages are also welcome.

Technical Skills:

Must-Have:

  1. Advanced experience with Power BI: Creating and publishing dashboards, data transformation, visual conformity, and DAX formulas.
  2. Advanced Excel skills: Proficiency with functions including Lookups, Index, Match, Pivot Tables, and visualisations.
  3. Advanced SQL expertise: Proficient in reading and writing SQL code.
  4. Experience handling unstructured data: Capable of processing, conforming, and presenting large datasets (1M+ rows).
  5. Proficiency with the Microsoft O365 suite.
  6. Snowflake experience: Proficient in managing and manipulating data with Snowflake and connecting it to Power BI dashboards.
  7. Strong data analysis skills: Ability to understand, visualise, and trend large datasets to formulate evidence-based hypotheses and communicate findings to stakeholders.
  8. Data Science/Predictive Modelling: Skilled in using techniques to model past data for future predictions and understanding drivers of trends and patterns.

Non-Technical Skills:

Must-Have:

  1. Proven experience interacting directly with stakeholders.
  2. Ability to work collaboratively within a team to deliver projects.
  3. Comfort engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
  4. Adherence to agreed time-frames, whether internal or regulatory.
  5. Understanding of data regulations such as PII, GDPR, and Data Retention.
  6. Ability to present data and communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.

Preferred:

  1. Experience in insurance or financial services.
  2. Prior experience working as part of a data team.
