Job description

We are looking for a new full-time member of the team to join us from mid-January 2025.

Zephyr is an international book scouting agency based in Soho in Central London. A creative, dynamic office of 6 people, we scout for publishers in 12 international markets and for several film/TV companies (ranging from major streamers to award-winning producers).

The role involves reading manuscripts and writing reports (in which the candidate evaluates their potential for both translation and adaptation), providing coverage of general book news, and supporting the rest of the Zephyr scouting team and their clients in the lead-up to book fairs and throughout the year.

The ideal candidate needs to be passionate about books and widely read across a range of different genres. Their English writing skills must be excellent, while knowledge of another language is an absolute plus. They must be curious, enthusiastic, and committed, and need to be excited about working in a small office with a collaborative and friendly team. Other skills we are looking for include organisation, a close attention to detail, strong sense of discretion, and professionalism. A year's experience in the publishing industry, or similar, is ideal.

This role provides a great introduction to scouting and to the publishing and film/TV industries more broadly - agents, publishers, producers, book-to-film agents, and translation rights - and access to an unparalleled network.

Please apply to contact@zephyrpartnership.com with a cover letter and CV by 2 December. Please paste your cover letter in the body of the email, and include your CV as an attachment. We reserve the right to close applications early, should we find the right candidate before the deadline.

We can only offer this role to candidates already legally allowed to work in the UK.

Hours: 9.30am - 6.00pm
Location: Soho office (58 Old Compton Street), with WFH on Fridays if desired.
Salary: £26 to £28k, depending on experience.
