This is an exciting opportunity for a Youth Worker to join the Youth Service at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, the Manchester Foundation Trust (MFT). The role is predominantly Monday to Friday with some occasional weekend, evening and residential work. We are looking for someone with a minimum of 2 years youth work experience in the NHS, voluntary sector, or community services.
The Youth Worker will be supporting young people with long term health conditions. The focus of the work will be on the young person's social and emotional needs within the children's hospital, adult services and the community. The Youth Worker will work alongside the multi-disciplinary team including Doctors, Specialist Nurses, a variety of different Therapies and Health Play Specialists. You will be offering holistic advice and care to the young people that are being prepared for the move from children's to adult healthcare services. The Youth Workers will deliver this work through one to one, group work, peer support and youth work sessions. The Youth Worker should be self-motivated, can use their own initiative and be responsive to the needs of young person in a health setting.
