Job description

Youth Work Officer Help Young People Succeed

Location: Oldham College

Contract: Term-Time Only (40 weeks)

Salary: £21,753- £22,810

Department: Student Support

Are you passionate about working with young people? Do you have experience in youth engagement, student support, or mentoring? We're looking for a Youth Work Officer to join Oldham College and help students overcome barriers, improve attendance, and stay on track for success.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Student Engagement: Support students with attendance, well-being, and personal development.
  2. Pastoral Support: Identify student needs and connect them with the right support services.
  3. Outreach & Community Work: Conduct home visits and liaise with parents, guardians, and local agencies.
  4. Enrichment Activities: Develop and promote activities that encourage student participation.
  5. Safeguarding & Welfare: Work with the College's safeguarding team to ensure students' safety and well-being.
Skills & Experience Required
  1. Experience in youth work, student mentoring, or community outreach.
  2. Strong communication skills to engage with students, parents, and external agencies.
  3. Knowledge of the challenges faced by young people and how to support them.
  4. Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  5. Educated to Level 3 or higher in any subject.
  6. Full UK driving license (desirable) for home visits.
