Job description

The South East, Normanton and Featherstone Youth Hub Team is looking for enthusiastic and motivated Engagement Workers to join the team. The post holder will deliver innovative youth provision and support to young people on a 1:1 or group basis in a variety of settings across Wakefield, with the aim of achieving improved outcomes for all young people aged 11-25.

The Youth Support Hub will:

  1. Provide more places to go where young people feel safe and supported.
  2. Improve opportunities for employment and learning new skills.
  3. Reduce youth crime and anti-social behaviour.
  4. Promote good health and wellbeing.
  5. Work with groups of young people or in a 1:1 capacity.

The successful candidate will need to have:

  1. Experience of working directly with children and young people.
  2. Experience of engaging and working with children and young people who are difficult to engage.
  3. Experience of delivering successful interventions to children and young people.
  4. Experience of contributing to the delivery of exciting and imaginative youth provision.
  5. Experience of working alongside community and voluntary sector organisations to provide activities for children and young people.
  6. A flexible approach to working.
  7. A relevant professional qualification or demonstrable evidence of working towards a professional qualification relevant to the work area.
  8. Knowledge of Safeguarding.

The successful applicant will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Application Form and to provide any criminal conviction information.
