Young Persons Psychotherapist

Single Homeless Project
London
GBP 60,000 - 80,000
Job description

Single Homeless Project has an opportunity for a Young Persons Psychotherapist - Maternity Cover to join our experienced and committed teams based in Islington. You will join us on a part time, fixed term contract for 6 Months with the possibility of further extension subject to funding. In return, you will receive a competitive salary starting at £47,125.17 and rising incrementally to £49,975.59 per annum (pro rata).

About the Young Persons Psychotherapist role:

Single Homeless Project's in-house psychotherapy has secured further funding to provide psychotherapy/counselling and psycho-educational groups for young people (16-25 years old) who are using SHP's accommodation and support provision. The post provides a psychologically informed service to young people and the care teams who support them.

We are currently looking to recruit a Young Persons Psychotherapist for 6 months maternity cover, who will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team offering in-person interventions which are prevention-focused rather than crisis management. This will include both individual psychotherapy and psychoeducation group work, which will be co-produced, informative and enlightening on bio-social-physiological responses to trauma; for example abusive relationships, racism and poverty.

It is highly likely this contract will be extended to 12 months after internal funding decisions have been made; this cannot be confirmed at this time but will be discussed further in interview with any shortlisted candidates. Please contact the recruitment team if you have any enquiries regarding this.

Skills and experience we're looking for in our Young Persons Psychotherapist:

  • Minimum one year's experience of providing psychotherapy/counselling to young people.
  • Experience of facilitating groups and understanding group dynamics.
  • Understanding and experience of the difficulties faced by young people, especially those who have been in care.
  • Ability to develop relationships with young people who can be sceptical of interacting with professionals and engaging in psychological support.
  • Understanding and some experience of client co-production.
  • Strong and clear interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • High level of personal organisation, with the ability to plan and prioritise your work.
  • Understanding and experience of anti-discriminatory practice.

Our attractive benefits package includes:

  • A salary increase after successfully completing six months' probationary period.
  • A 37.5 hour working week including flexible working hours (core hours are 10am to 4pm) in non-accommodation services.
  • 25 days annual leave, increasing annually to the maximum 30 days (plus paid Bank Holidays).
  • A contributory pension scheme: Single Homeless Project will contribute the equivalent of 5% of your annual salary.
  • Staff Health Cash Plan and discounts scheme.
  • Comprehensive and integrated training programme designed specifically to develop the skills and knowledge involved in our work.

Closing Date: Sunday 8th September at midnight.
