A fantastic opportunity has presented to work in a vibrant, two-form entry school in the heart of Stockport. This full-time Year 5 teaching role will begin May 2025 and will run until February 2026 with the possibility of an extension, depending on your success in the role. This school offers a broad and creative curriculum which fosters collaboration as well as individual responsibility and provides a fantastic opportunity for the successful applicant to express an innovative nature within the school.

About the Role

As the Year 5 teacher, you will be responsible for the progress and attainment of approximately 30 pupils within a mixed ability class. A substantial percentage are working below age-related expectations so the successful candidate must strive to overcome challenges and have the motivation to drive progress and transform academic outcomes. In addition, there is a small percentage of SEND in the class; experience writing and reviewing EHCP's is highly desirable. You will be joined by a full-time TA who is very familiar with the curriculum and be joining a very supportive KS2 team in which you can make an impact!


As the Year 5 teacher, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  1. Demonstrate a secure knowledge and understanding of the Year 5 curriculum and undertake full class teaching responsibilities
  2. Plan lessons in line with National curriculum standards with an emphasis on creativity and innovation
  3. Build a positive rapport with all pupils and create a community where pupils feel confident partaking
  4. Use a range of assessment strategies to review, report and reflect on daily practice to inform future planning and improve educational outcomes
  5. Plan interventions with intent to address missed curriculum content and achieve rapid progress
  6. Ensure activities are relevant, meaningful and consolidate basic concepts
  7. Utilise a range of teaching and learning strategies that cater for visual, audio and kinaesthetic preferences
  8. Create a collaborative classroom where pupils are encouraged to share their views.

Essential Requirements:
  • You must hold QTS (or an equivalent teaching qualification).
  • This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks.
  • Provide a CV with at least 10 years employment/education history included and employment breaks must be explained.
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK.
