Our client is a leading scaffolding contractor who mainly operates in the South East. Due to expansion plans, they require a Scaffolding Yard & Transport Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Scaffolding Contracts Manager, manage two Yard Supervisors and supervise five yard staff, guiding new and other yard labourers as necessary.
- Manage stock (Haki System & scaffolding tubes, boards, fitting rotation).
- Oversee cleaning and oiling fittings.
- Ensure cleaning and repairing of boards.
- Supervise cleaning of scaffolding stock.
- Manage repairs of other stock and equipment.
- Coordinate painting and re-painting of stock in company branded colour as required.
- Load lorries throughout the day with stock to take to client sites, ensuring they are loaded and ready to go at the end of the day.
- Ensure the scaffold yard is always tidy and well-organised.
- Work with the Scaffolding Contracts Manager to ensure drivers and their lorries are loaded and able to leave the yard each morning as required.
- Liaise with service & maintenance providers to undertake PMIs, servicing, MOTs, and repairs as needed.
- Carry out tachograph analysis, driver management, driver card downloads and analysis, fuel card management, and HSE compliance.
- Book repairs to the buildings and/or equipment at the yard.
- Ensure the scaffold yard is unlocked in the morning and safely locked each evening.
- Train new yard staff in basic yard management health and safety practices and provide knowledge of the scaffolding industry.
- Conduct random drugs and alcohol tests on scaffolders as required.
- Liaise with and maintain a good working relationship with internal clients, including Site Support Managers, Scaffold Inspection Manager, and Site Supervisors/Black Hats.
- Refer breaches of policy, process, or health and safety to the HSEQ Manager and support with relevant information when requested.

• Significant yard experience and knowledge of managing a productive and cost-efficient operation of both staff vehicles and equipment.
• Significant experience in the construction industry working on large and complex projects and/or yard.
• Strong knowledge and experience in the scaffolding industry.
• Ability to inspire scaffolding yard team members to embrace company vision and growth plans while modeling company values.
• Advocate for excellence in all aspects of health and safety construction practices, leading from the front with scaffolding practices, and always wearing full PPE kits on sites (including helmets, Hi-Viz clothes, protective boots, gloves, and glasses as required).
• Strong people supervision skills, ensuring yard operatives work productively on projects as directed by the Contracts Manager.
• Strong computer skills, including Outlook 365, Word, Excel, and stock systems.
• Strong, transparent, and respectful written and verbal communication skills.
