Job description

Barker Ross is currently looking for a skilled Yard and Assembly Operative.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing parts for assembly, including assembling sub-components and integrating sub-assemblies to complete the final product. The role may also involve using a Counterbalance Forklift, so a valid License will be required to safely move and load large and awkward water irrigation rigs/units onto vehicles, ensuring their secure transportation. Primarily, you will assist in the construction of irrigation rigs and other equipment, following established procedures and quality standards. This dual role provides a dynamic work environment and the chance to contribute to various aspects of our operations.

The successful candidate should be comfortable using basic hand tools for bolting and screwing parts together, as well as power tools such as angle grinders, presses, and pillar drills. Experience with pneumatic tools (e.g., drills, hand taps) is also required. You may be required to operate an overhead crane when parts are too heavy to lift manually.

The role requires good organizational skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team. A strong focus on safety for yourself and your team is essential. Training and support will be provided, and while a Forklift License is beneficial, it is not essential.

Working hours are Monday to Friday:

  1. Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  2. Friday: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual with excellent timekeeping and attendance. You should have strong attention to detail, be adaptable, and maintain a positive attitude. The role is physically demanding and involves working outdoors.
