About the role:

Stylist is looking for a writer to join their editorial team.

The editorial team works at pace producing content for our audience across all platforms – print, digital (free and paid), email, social and events.

Reporting to the Deputy Editor (digital), the successful candidate will have experience writing for a fast-paced digital publication and take an interest in everything from feminism and politics to entertainment and the latest food trends. This role requires a self-starting journalist who has a passion for trends and is keen to grow as part of the Stylist team.

What to expect:

This is a busy role that will see you writing news and working on features every day, while also taking part in ideas meetings as a wider team and focusing on personal deadlines. Excellent organisation and communication skills are required. The primary focus is to drive traffic to Stylist.co.uk and increase subscriptions on-site, while ensuring content is always on-brand. You will work alongside the editorial team to create a breadth of content; you should be well-versed in digital best practice and have experience working towards ambitious traffic targets.

Accountabilities and responsibilities:

  • To create outstanding editorial content that meets the high standards held by Stylist
  • To pitch and write content across a breadth of on-brand topics each day; writing a minimum of two stories/features for publication every day
  • To be adept at spotting new trends and conversation points as they emerge, and make sure Stylist is at the forefront of these focal points
  • To work with the Deputy Editor to ensure ambitious KPIs and deadlines are met
  • To use digital SEO skills to ensure your content is reaching the target audience as required

Knowledge, skills and attributes:

  • To have a keen interest in digital trends and have good relationships with PRs to ensure you’re first with the latest news
  • Knowledge and experience of digital programming and analytics
  • To be well-organised and able to juggle lots of different deadlines while working at pace
  • The ability to work collaboratively and creatively with the wider editorial team
