WORKSHOP SUPERVISOR

Great opportunity for a Semi Productive HGV or Plant Workshop Supervisor to join a large ever-growing group, that also offers great progression opportunities.

Location:
Barnsley

Salary:
£46,800 Basic plus £30ph for any overtime done after 45hrs a week

Please note this Plant / HGV Workshop Supervisor role is Semi Productive; you will still be doing some work on the tools, assisting on any call outs in the day that is needed, but mostly managing the Heavy Vehicle Technicians.

Hours:
Monday to Friday days, 45 hours a week
£30ph for any overtime done after 45 hours a week

My Client, a commercial Vehicle / Heavy Vehicle Company that operates throughout the UK, is looking for a dedicated, loyal and knowledgeable HGV Workshop Controller / Plant Workshop Supervisor in the Barnsley area.

The Plant / HGV / Heavy Vehicle Workshop Manager will be assisting the mechanics and dealing with all types of Heavy vehicles and HGV, such as Tipper Lorries, Dumpers and Sweepers. The ideal candidate would have a background of working on HGV / Heavy Vehicle / Plant / Construction Vehicles, and have experience with Hydraulics and Electrics, as well as Mechanics. Ideally, the right candidate would have also been in a supervisory role, leading and managing a team of Mechanics.

Main duties:

  1. Managing a Team of Commercial Vehicle / HGV / Plant Fitters and Technicians
  2. Work closely with the Operations Manager and Support where needed.
  3. Vehicle PMI Inspections
  4. Routine Maintenance and Repairs when required
  5. Lead by example and manage a Team whilst promoting all the Company Values.
  6. Liaising with staff to manage the daily planning of vehicles in the Workshop ensuring full utilisation of time available / Managing Workflow.
  7. Assist on service and repair of commercial vehicles (semi-productive role)
  8. Parts ordering and Stock Control
  9. Work closely with the Director to implement improvements and grow the business
  10. Ensuring Health & Safety standards are adhered to at all times.
  11. Monitoring utilisation, productivity and idle time to ensure internal KPI's are met.
  12. Maintain relationships with key suppliers
  13. Review, coach and develop the team and ensure all our trainees have a dedicated training programme and/or mentor in place.
  14. Dealing with customer queries.
  15. Authorising Time Sheets, Overtime and Holidays

The HGV Workshop Controller / Plant Workshop Supervisor will be able to demonstrate:

  1. Brilliant leadership skills.
  2. A full clean driving licence is required; a Class 1 or 2 licence would be advantageous.
  3. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  4. Clear vision in achieving business goals.
  5. An ability to motivate and inspire team members to exceed targets.
  6. An ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with both colleagues and customers.
  7. Ensuring the Technicians are performing and assisting with issues.
  8. An understanding of the demands of the role and the time and attention needed to produce impressive results.
  9. IT Literacy.
  10. Be loyal, hard-working and committed.
  11. Genuinely have an interest in the role and the company.
  12. Have worked as an HGV / Heavy Vehicle / Plant / Construction Vehicle / Agricultural Technician before as this role is semi-productive on the tools.
  13. A level 3 NVQ is desirable.
  14. A methodical approach to work.
  15. Good Time Management.
