Job description

Primarily based in a workshop or manufacturing setting, balancing office-based tasks (planning, scheduling) with on-site coordination with production teams.

Role specific responsibilities

Production Planning & Scheduling:

  • Collaborate with Business Planning to align project requirements with the live production schedule in Primavera P6.
  • Develop, update, and maintain workshop production schedules per CRCE-established processes to meet customer requirements, production capacity, and material availability.
  • Monitor and adjust production schedules in collaboration with Business Planning to meet deadlines and optimize workflow.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Logistics, and Sales to ensure the availability of all required materials and resources.
  • Ensure the efficient use of labour, equipment, and resources in accordance with production schedules.
  • Communicate potential delays or production issues to relevant teams and propose solutions.
  • Maintain planning workflows within the plant to expedite production and ensure smooth product flow through the workshop (from work order creation to quality checks and closure).
  • Create and distribute work orders in SAP based on customer order priorities and resource availability.

Resource Allocation & Management:

  • Optimize the allocation and use of labor, equipment, and resources on the shop floor.
  • Ensure the workshop is appropriately staffed to meet production demands and analyze workloads to avoid bottlenecks.
  • Provide reports to ensure the Workshop Manager has sufficient resources to meet production deadlines and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure all necessary parts are available for work orders and follow up on any back ordered items.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Review production schedules, moblists, and demand forms to create and manage work orders in SAP.
  • Maintain accurate records of production schedules, inventory levels, work orders, and materials.
  • Monitor and upload staff work hours (timesheets) onto SAP.
  • Archive and manage workshop-related documentation, including work order creation, tracking, and closure.

Communication & Coordination:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between production staff, supervisors, and management regarding timelines and requirements.
  • Liaise with Supply Chain for material ordering and delivery, ensuring clear communication between teams to align on production goals.
  • Provide regular updates to colleagues regarding the progress of work and any changes to schedules or requirements.
  • Support cross-functional teams in process improvements and resolving production issues.

Administrative Support:

  • Manage administrative tasks related to the workshop, including handling timesheets, purchase orders, and inventory of consumables and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in all administrative procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining both digital and paper filing systems.

Continuous Improvement & Efficiency:

  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve production scheduling efficiency and workshop operations.
  • Collaborate with production teams to implement lean manufacturing practices or other process improvements.
  • Work closely with quality control teams to ensure production standards are maintained.
  • Actively support cost vs. target metrics to drive efficiency and productivity improvements.
