Join Our Team at Play Sports Network – Workshop Manager

Are you passionate about cycling, tech, and media? Do you have the skills to manage and maintain high-end bikes, ensuring they're ready for high-profile video shoots and global productions? If you're an expert in bike mechanics and want to work with some of the best bikes in the business, Play Sports Network (PSN) is looking for a Workshop Manager to join our friendly team.

About Us

Play Sports Network is a leading cycling media business based in Bath, focusing on creating high-quality content for our YouTube channels, including the Global Cycling Network (GCN), Global Mountain Bike Network (GMBN), Global Triathlon Network (GTN), and their associated Tech channels. With millions of viewers around the world, we’re passionate about delivering content that educates, inspires, and entertains cycling enthusiasts of all levels.

What We’re Looking For

As the Workshop Manager, you’ll be part of a small team, working alongside a Bike Mechanic and taking charge of PSN’s high-end bikes and component inventory, ensuring everything is prepped and ready for our fast-paced production schedules. You’ll be working across our multiple channels to ensure our bikes and tech are in perfect condition for video shoots, marketing campaigns, and more. Whether you’re assembling bikes or managing logistics, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our production process runs smoothly.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage Inventory: Keep track of PSN’s extensive bike and component inventory, ensuring everything is where it needs to be and ready for action.
  • Prepare Bikes & Components: Build and assemble bikes and mechanical components according to video shoot and presenter requirements. Perform diagnostic tests, repairs, and ensure maximum reliability.
  • Work With Production: Coordinate with the Production Director and senior staff to ensure bikes and components are prepared ahead of video shoots and campaigns.
  • Coordinate Logistics: Handle the reception, delivery, and organization of bikes, components, and props. Liaise with commercial partners for sponsored content.
  • On-Camera Opportunities: As a tech expert, you may appear in videos to share your knowledge and assist with tech-based script writing across all our channels.
  • Ensure Quality Control: Work closely with the production team to meet deadlines and budgets while ensuring the highest quality of bike builds and repairs.

What We’re Looking For in You

  • Cycling Knowledge: Experience and/or Cytech Advanced Training (ideally up to or exceeding Technical 3). Familiarity with high-end MTB, road, triathlon, and e-bikes.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in modern bike mechanics – including bleeding disc brakes, suspension servicing, and bearing overhauls.
  • Organisational Skills: Strong experience managing bike and component logistics, working with booking systems, and maintaining meticulous records.
  • Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with Macintosh computers and Google-based software is preferred. Bonus points if you’re comfortable working with video production teams!
  • Communication Skills: A keen eye for detail, especially when reviewing tech-based scripts for factual accuracy.
  • Passion for Bikes: A love for cycling, whether it’s road biking, mountain biking, or triathlon – it’s a passion we want to share with our viewers.

Additional Requirements

  • Full driving licence and ability to travel within the UK (and EU occasionally).
  • Experience in online video production is desirable.
  • Occasional travel may be required for shoots, both domestically and abroad.
  • A passion for cycling is essential – you’ll even get the chance to join team rides throughout the year!

Why Play Sports Network?

  • Be Part of a Growing Brand: Work with some of the most respected cycling media brands in the world.
  • Creative Environment: Collaborate with passionate cyclists, presenters, and production experts to create world-class content.
  • Dynamic Role: Be at the heart of a fast-paced media company, with opportunities to get involved in different aspects of production.
  • Work Hard, Play Hard: Join a team that loves bikes as much as you do, with opportunities to take part in exciting bike-related activities throughout the year.

Working Hours

  • Core hours: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday (with an hour lunch break).
  • Occasional out-of-hours work may be required to meet production deadlines, including weekends or bank holidays (Time off in Lieu Policy applies).
