Workshop Manager - Poole
Our client is a successful and well-established brand in their sector and now requires a Workshop Manager with a proven track record to support the team in Poole.
About the Role
As Workshop Manager, you'll be overseeing a team of 17, made up of on-site and field-based technicians, apprentices, and MOT testers, as well as administrative support. This role requires an experienced and strategic manager to oversee day-to-day workshop operations while liaising daily with Head Office and regional branches to ensure full communication of ongoing works.
Core Responsibilities
- Full responsibility for the effective day-to-day management, scheduling, and development of the workshop team through building rapport and credibly demonstrating technical knowledge.
- Responsibility for workshop loading in conjunction with the Workshop Foreman.
- Ensure effective diagnostics of vehicle faults, striving for a high fix first time.
- Maximising revenue levels internally and externally through reviewing workshop processes and identifying scope for efficiency and cost improvements.
- Track and take accountability for departmental Profit & Loss.
- Undertake the completion of job cards, invoicing, and recharging non-service items.
- Oversee the ordering, checking, and returning of parts.
- Encourage strong and effective communication with internal departments.
- Identification of team performance strengths and weaknesses and encourage development where required.
- Recruitment and development of apprentices.
- Ensure adherence to current workplace legislation and Health and Safety requirements.
Requirements
About You
Successful candidates should demonstrate the following skills and competencies:
- Natural people manager committed to fostering a happy and productive team delivering excellent service in a workshop environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturer warranties - able to identify when to repair and when to send to dealership.
- MOT Station Manager AEDM.
- Demonstrable high-level diagnostic and technical skills.
- Commercially minded with a drive to improve.
- Excellent communicator, comfortable working with employees at all levels.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and comfortable with other operating software.
