Are you ready to take your career up a gear?

We’re on the lookout for a Workshop Manager to join us at Stagecoach Gillmoss where we operate a fleet of around 140 buses.

As Workshop Manager, you’ll be ready to roll your sleeves up for a rewarding role that doesn’t just help people get from A to B – you help communities stay connected.

Your contribution could truly drive our business forward.

What you’ll do:

  1. You will ensure that daily service targets are met, and all maintenance tasks are completed to exacting standards.
  2. Through first-line supervision, you will control daily workshop loading, monitor H&S practices and ensure buses are in top condition for our customers.
  3. You will communicate targets and action plans to staff each day via briefing sessions with the emphasis on improved reliability.
  4. You will also be responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance; ensuring premises are secure, cleaned and safe for staff and visitors.

What we need from you:

A firm technical knowledge is key, as you will be first port of call to assist our teams diagnosing and rectifying complex issues.

The role demands someone with energy, enthusiasm and the ability to motivate staff to meet the targets and the high standards we set for the maintenance and cleaning of our buses and to ensure that they are available for the deadlines required for the daily operation of our bus services.

You should possess an appropriate professional engineering qualification, have an eye for detail and have a passion for continuous improvement.

Why work with us:

  1. Job security – we’ve been going since 1980, we turn over £1.3bn and we’re not planning on hanging our boots up anytime soon!
  2. Free travel – for you and your companion on our buses. That means on your days off you can be off shopping for free without worrying about parking the car, or heading off for a day in the city without paying a fortune in petrol or train fares!
  3. A great regular income and great benefits – £45k per annum, £2500 joining incentive –Receive £1250 after 2 months and the remaining £1250 after 6 months. Plus a good pension scheme to look after you after you’ve hung up the spanner!
  4. Promotions – perhaps you’re happy sticking as a Master Technician and that’s fine by us, but if you want to progress we’ll support you every step of the way. You will be given exposure to work which will develop your skills and experience to allow you to progress your career further. Many of our Stagecoach Merseyside, Cheshire & South Lancashire Engineering Managers started off as Master Technicians – so that could very well be you in the not too distant future!
  5. Training – a dedicated high level training programme to reinforce the skills you already have and an opportunity to gain a qualification in another trade!

If you want to come and work for a passionate team, and a recognised name, then click apply.
