Workshop Manager

As a Garage Manager, you'll play a part in keeping some of the UK's biggest brands on the road, at Goole this is at Tesco distribution Centre. As someone with experience of managing several key areas of a business, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, legal and profitable operation of a Pullman workshop. The Garage Manager is accountable for delivering a safe environment that is a great place to work, ensuring customers receive industry leading service whilst meeting compliance, revenue and profitability targets.

What you'll do

1. Ensure that the workshop operates in line with our safe systems of work, and all legislative and H&S processes are followed.
2. Through utilisation of required systems, manage all contract KPIs such as VOR whilst having a strong hold on overhead costs, technician productivity and fleet compliance measures in line with business targets.
3. Management and control of all parts use within the workshop with the use of process adherence and reporting exceptions methodology.
4. Ensure the highest levels of 'on site' Health & Safety through regular monitoring, audit and fostering of the appropriate cultural adherence.
5. Manage your team to ensure that the workshop delivers vehicle management and maintenance, including a robust quality control process in line with the terms set out in any customer agreements.
6. Ensure that resource requirements are pro-actively managed to ensure that service delivery is maintained at all times. This may include liaison with suppliers to achieve the appropriate level of agency / contractor support.
7. Represent the business with our customer base in relation to operational performance around areas such as vehicle repairs, health & safety, compliance to name a few.
8. Setting the standards surrounding compliance, behaviours and work ethics that enable a positive health & safety culture & place the customer at the heart of everything we do.
9. Build and maintain strong customer & supplier relationships.
10. Drive operational excellence and Company standards whilst reducing operating costs, improving efficiencies and sharing best practice across the network.
11. Have a sharp focus on site P&L performance with an in-depth knowledge of how to influence key contributors.
12. Be of a continuous improvement mindset, identifying opportunities for better ways of working and following appropriate channels for sign off and implementation.
13. Place process adherence at the core of all activities, in turn ensuring real clarity is known in areas such as MOT progression of works, repair authority & compliance management.

What you've got

1. Experience of workshop management & confidence in delivering clear instruction / expectations to team members.
2. Experience managing finance within an operation that results in a sound understanding of P&L levers and contributors, commercial acumen and the ability to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
3. Experience managing Health & Safety within a busy operational environment with a sound knowledge of H&S fundamentals within the workplace.
4. Experience working with several stakeholders across the business ensuring progression of key implementation activities.
5. Ability to motivate and coach a team of technicians to deliver against productivity targets.
6. Experience of delivering high levels of quality and service to customers.
7. Previous experience managing a HGV operation, with an extensive understanding of Operator Licence requirements & transport legislation.
8. Technical / professional qualifications: Level 3 NVQ Qualified Automotive, Service and Repair (or equivalent) preferred.
9. Ability to travel to other sites within the UK as needed.
10. Full UK Driving Licence.
