Workshop Manager

We're currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a skilled and experienced professional to take charge of day-to-day workshop operations. In this role, you'll be responsible for overseeing the repair, maintenance, and compliance of a small fleet of tipper and hydraulic crane lorries, ensuring all vehicles are safe, roadworthy, and operating efficiently. It's a hands-on position that plays a key role in supporting the wider transport and logistics function.

About the role

1. Oversee repairs and maintenance of a small fleet of tipper and hydraulic crane lorries
2. Manage compliance processes including PMI inspections, MOTs, tacho checks, and defect reports
3. Respond to vehicle breakdowns and call-outs, ensuring minimal downtime
4. Carry out mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic diagnostics and repairs (including welding/fabrication)
5. Supervise workshop operations, maintain accurate records, and support transport compliance

About you

1. Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of vehicle systems
2. Proficient in diagnosing and repairing electrical, hydraulic and mechanical issues
3. Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks
4. Welding and fabrication skills
5. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
6. Strong communication and management skills
7. Current Class 1 and 2 driving licence
8. Proficient use of Microsoft applications
9. Previous experience of managing a workshop is essential
