Job description

JMC Aviation is working with a Maintenance Repair Organisation based in Birmingham, looking to recruit a new Workshop Manager to join their team.

This client is a leading MRO dealing with base maintenance as well as interior modifications, fuel systems repair and maintenance for both commercial and military aircraft. The company has been operating for close to 30 years, providing outstanding customer service and encouraging a warm, positive environment to aid employee progression.

This is a Permanent Position based in Birmingham, UK.

Monday to Friday, working 40 hours per week.

The Role

The primary purpose of this role is to report to the VP Military Operations and maintain the Part 145 'C' rating Capability Listing on the MOE to ensure the commensurate ability to service and repair those components. You will be responsible for overseeing all operations within the MRP Part 145 workshops including leading a team of Technicians, ensuring efficient workflows, maintaining quality control, managing inventory, adhering to safety protocols and delivering projects on time while meeting customer expectations.

Other duties involve

  • Maintaining the workshops facility and allocating resources to carry out all component maintenance
  • Being the Nominated Post Holder for workshops and ensuring that all workshop activities performed are compliant with MRP Part 145 requirements
  • Ensuring any work for internal workshops is correctly detailed in a work order/contract and that the requirements of the contract/work order are fulfilled
  • Availability of facilities appropriate to the planned work including workshops, office accommodation and stores, as applicable for the work planned
  • Managing workshop facilities in line with company processes and procedures
  • Monitoring output and performance of workshops and continually looking for improvement/efficiencies, including continuation training to maintain competencies and effectiveness
  • Provision of workshop metrics/reports as identified by the business
  • Maintaining MAA Part 145 compliance and perceiving opportunities to further optimise the business
  • Providing guidance and training to the current teams in the various workshops to ensure continuous improvement
  • Ensuring all workshop staff keep the working environment clean and tidy

In order to be successful in this role the Workshop Manager will need to demonstrate the following skills and attributes

  • Previous experience of aviation workshop management, to include the control of aerospace components
  • Ability to pass MAA Nominated Post Holder interview
  • Understanding of KPI's metrics and their development
  • Completed an engineering apprenticeship, ideally in aeronautical engineering or military equivalent
  • Understanding of workshop equipment, machinery and tooling
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Right to live and work in the UK
  • Subject to UK security vetting
