Job description

Our client is currently recruiting for a Workshop Foreman. Based in Aberdeen, the role will be on a full time, permanent basis.


ROLE

The Workshop Foreman is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of all warehouse operations, ensuring all work is carried out in a safe and timely manner and to a high standard.


RESPONSIBILITIES
Workshop Operations:
  1. Ensure that all workshop employees participate and adhere to the companies QHSE system and Stop Work Authority.
  2. Ensure comprehensive daily toolbox talks are prepared and held at the beginning of each day.
  3. Responsible for the co-ordination of the day-to-day running of the workshop and preparation of equipment.
  4. Allocate job tasks and coordinate activity between the mechanical, electrical and workshop departments to ensure equipment is fit for purpose and readied on time.
  5. Liaise with relevant teams/departments to ensure all projects fulfil customer requirements and to ensure of on time delivery and service quality.
  6. Ensure that servicing and upkeep of all equipment is to the highest standard, to provide the best service quality and service to our customers.
  7. Ensure that all equipment assigned to a job is maintained and fully certified as per company procedures.
  8. Responsible for creating full equipment and lifting certification packs for each job and ensuring they are added to the relevant job folder.
  9. Oversee and assist in load-out packaging of equipment ensuring containers are loaded correctly and safely as per company procedure and industry guidelines.
  10. Ensure workshop is kept in a safe, tidy, and organised condition at all times.
  11. Ensure all work tasks comply with procedures and guidelines outlined in the Quality Management System.
  12. Ensure all logistical paperwork (e.g. cargo summary/single lift forms) for equipment loadout and backload is completed accurately and submitted to the Operations Team in a timely manner.
  13. Ensure equipment returning from a job is checked in a timely manner with all items and assets checked against the backload manifest.
  14. Track all container movements and liaise with the Operations Department for when units are needed to be ordered and or off hired.
  15. Liaise with operations department to obtain dates for organising truck movements for the loadout of equipment.
  16. Participate and arrange workshop on-call rota.
  17. General facilities management such as visual inspection of the roofing, roller doors, fire doors as well as taking meter readings and general maintenance.
Supply Chain:
  1. Ensure goods in/out are managed safely and recorded in accordance with procedures.
  2. Responsible for the retrieval of quotes and the sourcing of materials required for facilities maintenance, workshop, and consumables. Justification on all spend is to be issued to the Product Line Manager for approval.
  3. Ensure stock checks are taken and recorded for workshop consumables and that stocks are kept at practical and efficient levels.
  4. Implement cost and time saving ideas for workshop operations and equipment preparation.
  5. Ensure the quality of purchases and processes are monitored and evaluated on a continuous basis.
  6. Ensure all assets are tracked and their status and locations are kept updated.
Supervisory:
  1. Motivate and coach workshop staff to work to the highest standards.
  2. Inform direct report/management of any problems within your department.
  3. Set objectives for workshop staff, including feedback and performance reviews, training, and competence.
  4. Attend operation meetings and be prepared to communicate on-going work schedules.
  5. Monitor warehouse personnel performance on a day-to-day basis.
  6. Assist with recruitment of workshop staff.
  7. Sign off annual leave forms (approvals are subject to business requirements)
  8. Provide justification for any overtime requirements including a summary of what needs to be done and what has been done post-overtime.
HSEQ:
  1. Understand and comply with company and customer QHSE standards, policies, and procedures.
  2. Comply with all company standards and procedures, as well as all applicable codes, laws, and regulatory requirements.
  3. Be aware of and actively promote the company's Life Saving Rules and values.
  4. Actively promote best work practice for QHSE.
  5. Ensure warehouse tasks are completed to ISO 9001 standard.
  6. Show commitment and accountability with regards to continuous improvement, innovation and lessons learned.
  7. Encourage and nurture a positive work ethos and opportunities for worker consultation and participation.
  8. Implement stop work authority as necessary, participate and contribute observations in support of incident investigations, internal audits, site inspections and Behaviour Based/HR Reporting objectives.
  9. Demonstrate visible leadership commitment and accountability to ensure the health and safety of our employees, the protection of the environment, and service and product quality.
  10. Provide the necessary training and development to enable our employees to understand and perform the roles and responsibilities involved with their job duties.
  11. Eliminate or mitigate our impact on the global environment through product design and control technologies, pollution prevention, energy conservation, waste minimisation, recycling, and treatment.
  12. Establish and review annual HSEQ objectives and performance measures; and ensuring adequate resources are committed to continually improve our operations, working towards a sustainable future.
  13. Promoting hazard identification to ensure risks are assessed, eliminated, or adequately controlled at a level as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP).
  14. Participate in incident investigation and behaviour Based/HR Reporting processes.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications/Experience
  1. Previous supervisory experience required. Experience in a similar role in the oil and gas industry preferred.
  2. Driving license essential.
  3. Forklift license an advantage; B2 Forklift Truck operation certification preferred.
  4. Knowledge and experience of using power tools essential.
  5. Computer literate with experience in the use of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook packages.

  1. Ability to manage multiple projects under strict timelines with minimal supervision. Strong ability to prioritise effectively.
  2. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  3. Understand and analyse complex information quickly and effectively; be able to present that information simply and accurately.
  4. Be prepared to use own initiative and operate autonomously whilst maintaining high standards of reporting and accountability.
  5. Able to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with all internal and external customers.
  6. Have good written and spoken communication skills to explain processes to a range of people and to give presentations to groups.
  7. Able to articulate your own point of view or instructions in terms appropriate to the listener.
  8. Can interpret requests and instructions accurately, in order to deliver necessary guidance or instruction.
  9. Must be able to see things from another's point of view, be willing to share their perspective, and be diplomatic in own approach to problem-solving. Understand the limits of their own knowledge.
  10. Must enjoy and thrive on being “hands-on.”
