Workshop Engineer / Heavy Plant Fitter

Location: Caldicot, Gwent

Salary: Up to £40k + Excellent Benefits

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm (40 hours)

The Client:

Our client is a privately owned mineral and aggregates contractor with extensive experience in the plant industry.

The Role:

As a Workshop Engineer / Heavy Plant Fitter, you will report to the workshop manager and undertake repair and maintenance of heavy-duty quarrying equipment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct inspections, local machine preparations, and installations of various attachments.
  2. Perform major overhauls on engines, transmissions, axles, and hydraulics.
  3. Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues efficiently.
  4. Work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  5. Maintain accurate records and documentation of work completed.
  6. Pursue continuous learning through internal and external training opportunities.

Requirements:

  1. Previously worked as a Workshop Engineer, Heavy Plant Fitter or in a similar role.
  2. 5+ years' post-apprenticeship experience in heavy construction plant maintenance.
  3. NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in engineering hydraulics, pneumatics, and electronics.
  4. Previous experience in heavy quarry / mining / construction equipment maintenance.
  5. Possess engineering qualification in plant maintenance, agricultural machinery, or HGV mechanics.
  6. Understanding of diagnostic procedures and equipment.
  7. Familiarity with Tier 4 and 5 engines, regen, and adblue systems.
