Job description

As the Workplaces Project, we deliver an exciting and innovative programme to young people in schools that provides opportunities for them to gain a valuable insight into the world of work and to find out about the skills and aptitudes that employers value through bespoke visits to businesses. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual who has a passion for helping young people to realise their ambitions to join our successful team as a Workplaces Project Coach.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?

As a Workplaces Project Coach, your role will be to engage with schools and businesses, in order to arrange bespoke visits for groups of young people.

You will deliver a carefully designed programme to groups of young people that will include preparatory workshops to enable young people to learn about employment sectors, job roles, entry routes, as well as skills and aptitudes that employers value; bespoke visits to businesses, covering specific sectors and consisting of tours of workplaces and opportunities to meet with employees, in order to learn about their experiences of work, as well as their personal journeys; review and monitoring to enable each student who participates in the project to review their visit in order to embed learning and receive mentoring support to ensure they have a progression plan in place.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will need:

  • A Level 3 qualification in a relevant field such as Information, Advice and Guidance, Youth Work, Employment Related Services, or Education and Training.
  • Experience of providing information, advice, guidance and support to young people.
  • Experience of designing, planning and delivering group work activities to young people.
  • Experience of using creative approaches to engage young people in activities.
  • Experience of working with schools, employers and other partner organisations.
  • A person-centred, empathetic and non-judgemental approach to working with young people.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the skills, qualities and aptitudes that young people require to help them progress into the world of work.
