Who are we?

We want to be the best place that any of our 6,600 colleagues have ever worked. We’re the UK’s largest long-term savings and retirement business. We offer a range of products across our market-leading brands, Standard Life, SunLife, Phoenix Life and ReAssure. Around 1 in 5 people in the UK has a pension with us. We’re a FTSE 100 organisation that is tackling key issues such as transitioning our portfolio to net zero by 2050, and we’re not done yet.

The role

This role will give you the opportunity to work with executive and non-executive directors, give you broad exposure to our workplace propositions and the market we operate in and allow you to be part of a fast-paced, high-energy work environment.

The role-holder will lead in relation to supporting the activities of the Standard Life Master Trust Trustee Board (SLMTC) and Phoenix Group Independent Governance Committee (IGC). This will include activities such as attending the relevant board/committee meetings, owning and project managing the production of material required to support SLMTC and the IGC (the chairs annual report, TCFD Annual Report and IGC Benchmarking activity) and managing the relationships with the business representatives and external suppliers that support these governance bodies.

This role will report to the Workplace Governance and Policy Lead, will require task management of the Proposition Consultant within the team and occasional travel within the UK.

What are we looking for?

  • An extensive and in-depth knowledge of workplace pensions, both contract and trust-based.
  • Strong relationship management and project management skills.
  • A good understanding of the regulatory framework applicable to Master Trust and contracted based workplace pension schemes.
  • A self-motivated individual who can use their own initiative and relationship/project management skills to get things done and deliver objectives.
  • A knowledge of pension trustee boards and IGC’s core purpose and accountabilities.
