APS 6 - Work Health and Safety Desk Officer

  • 91,702 - $104,753 + up to 15.4% Superannuation
  • Canberra - ACT

The Role

  1. Develop and implement WHS policy and programs based on identified risk, industry best practice, regulator recommendations and assurance program outcomes.
  2. Engage with internal and external stakeholders on complex and sensitive work health and safety issues.
  3. Demonstrate and apply specialist knowledge of work health and safety legislation, policies and procedures relevant to Navy.
  4. Use experience to provide specialist advice to work health and safety advisers, Commanders and Managers and other stakeholders.
  5. Liaise and act as a point of contact as necessary with other authorities and interest groups on work health and safety specialist matters.
  6. Evaluate activities and processes for compliance with work health and safety legislation, policies and procedures relevant to Navy.
  7. Resolve problems using specialist expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action and implications for work health and safety activities.
