Main Responsibilities:

  1. Look after our existing customers. We are blessed with amazing customers who support the most vulnerable in society. We need somebody who can help to keep them on track, be a good listener, help out with any issues. You won’t do this alone – you’ll be part of a tightly-knit team.
  2. Develop new accounts. Working with existing customers strengthens our new business work – we have a wealth of real-world experience to call on. When an account manager wins a new customer, we look after them and nurture, as such they stay with the org for the long term.

Requirements of the role:

  1. To have responsibility for company order intake in a defined geographical territory.
  2. To prepare and deliver presentations to this aim.
  3. To prepare proposals and tender submissions to this aim.
  4. To define, negotiate and agree commercial terms for orders, and to actively participate in the negotiation of new contracts with the support of System C legal advisors.
  5. To have a sales target against which you are partly remunerated and to work effectively towards this.
  6. To account manage a number of existing ‘live’ customer sites and to develop these to their full potential utilising a range of products/services.
  7. To pursue opportunities in Councils/organisations that are not currently customers, involving working to open up new opportunities and leading on tender submissions and presentations.
  8. To represent the Co to both customers and prospective customers, and to do this at a senior level, for example by working with customer and prospective customer Directors, to further the interests of the company.
  9. To work with partner companies to forge business relationships where appropriate.
  10. Working to ensure customer satisfaction with products/services at all times.
  11. Resolve and/or escalates customer issues in a timely fashion.
  12. Work with other areas of the business to aid setting and managing of customer expectations.
  13. To have an understanding of Company systems – JIRA/Wiki – and to use these tools where appropriate.
  14. Liaise with the marketing team around customer and prospect contact activities to enable them to update relevant information held in these systems as required.
  15. Plan/carry out/support local marketing activities to agreed budgets and timescales and integrate personal sales efforts with other organized marketing activities; e.g. product launches, customer events, exhibitions and conferences.
  16. Respond to and follow-up sales enquiries using appropriate methods.
  17. Monitor and report on market and competitor activities.
  18. Report regularly to the Business Development Director on progress and status of each account in the territory including any prospective orders and any customer satisfaction issues.

Person Specification:

  1. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  2. Ability to manage a complex caseload, ensuring that deadlines are met whilst balancing the workload across team members.
  3. Persuasive and credible in a sales context.
  4. Must exercise good commercial judgment to protect the company’s interests, in written formats (e.g. bids) and in dialogue with customers.
  5. Strong ICT skills.
  6. Excels at establishing and building meaningful relationships – external.
  7. Success in establishing and building appropriate relationships – internal.
  8. Self-motivated/good organisational skills.
  9. To work as part of a team for the overall benefit of the business.
  10. To have the ability to work to tight deadlines in a pressurised environment.
  11. Ability to recognise, analyse and solve issues.
  12. Will be required to travel and stay overnight, to carry out the role effectively.
  13. To represent the Company appropriately at all times.
  14. Full UK Driving Licence required.
