About this opportunity
We are looking for a male* Wellbeing Practitioner to join the team of a lively young man who receives 24/7 support from Thistle. He is full of energy and needs someone similar to help him through his day. He leads a busy life of activities designed to help him progress and enhance his autonomy. Many of these activities include close contact with animals, so an interest in this is desirable as it is a big part of his life. His team is expected to actively participate in some sporting activities he enjoys, including walking, cycling, fishing, trampoline, and boat trips. Household duties and personal care are also part of the daily routine, which you would be expected to support with and encourage him to complete. Occasionally, certain events can present a very difficult time for this young man, causing him distress and requiring the utmost attention and diligence of his staff, working together to help him through these times and keep him safe.
This is an extremely fun, rewarding, and challenging role. Prospective candidates require a good sense of humour, patience, resilience, understanding, willingness, excellent communication skills, and the ability to plan. A driving licence is essential as he has his own car.
You would be joining an existing team who work closely together to ensure he leads the best quality of life possible. We achieve this by meeting regularly to discuss and agree with him and his family how best we can help him keep progressing in a positive direction.
In return, you will have the satisfaction of working for an organisation at the cutting edge of designing individualised support arrangements that make a real difference to people’s lives. The Thistle Foundation provides excellent training and other benefits such as a contributory pension, childcare voucher scheme, and many others.
