About the job

The role of a Welfare Outreach Adviser involves offering guidance and support to individuals in need. This position is based at Glasgow North West Citizens Advice Bureau in Maryhill, with additional outreach conducted in various GP Practices across the northwest of Glasgow. We are an independent and innovative advice organisation providing holistic advice and support to the local people.

We are looking for client-focused individuals with experience of providing income maximisation as part of overall holistic advice and support. In this role you will see clients in person, as well as providing advice via telephony, email and digital channels ensuring clients get the advice, information and support needed.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with the drive and enthusiasm to ensure the provision of a quality advice service to the public. This position is based at Glasgow North West Citizens Advice Bureau in Maryhill, with a requirement for occasional outreach conducted across the northwest of Glasgow.

Working to high standards, the successful candidate will be a self-motivated, enthusiastic team member with excellent interpersonal skills that can play a key role in the delivery of our holistic advice service. Demonstrating a commitment to the aims, principles and ethos of the CAB service, the individual will be supported to make a meaningful difference to our community.

This is a new and exciting project which focuses on energy advice provision in the North West of Glasgow. We are looking to recruit an experienced adviser to deliver Energy Advice in our community via phone appointments, face to face appointments and home visits.

Our new project aims to support vulnerable energy consumers, within one of Scotland’s most deprived areas, to tackle the ongoing impact of surging energy bills, reduce fuel poverty and help to manage energy debt. Our project will raise awareness of energy efficiencies and empower vulnerable individuals, helping to reduce the impact of poverty. As part of the project, the advisers will receive training to achieve a City & Guilds qualification in Energy Advice.

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the Moira Anderson Foundation (MAF), a values-based charity that supports children and adults of all genders affected by Childhood Sexual Abuse. We are recruiting a Client Support Officer to work with adults. The work will take place from our hub in Buchanan Street, Glasgow, and also various GP practices in the Glasgow area. Initial training and induction will take place between Glasgow and Airdrie.

Warmth, empathy and compassion are key attributes for this role. The Client Support Officer will possess a relevant qualification or have experience in working with adults who have experienced trauma, have experience of supporting vulnerable clients and have a sound understanding of trauma and the issues that affect CSA survivors.

The post is funded for 21 hours per week in year 1 and 17.5 hours per week in year 2. We are optimistic that funding will be secured for the additional 3.5 hours in year 2, but it is not guaranteed. Ongoing funding will be sought to maintain this post beyond the initial 2-year period. The salary is £26,380 pro rata. Working days will be agreed to meet the needs of the service, some evening work will be required.

Induction training and clinical supervision will be provided, as well as enhanced employer pension contribution (following 3-month probationary period), death in benefit scheme and attractive holiday leave benefits.

Glasgow Women’s Aid provides information, support and temporary accommodation for women, children and young people experiencing domestic abuse. We have refuge accommodation, follow on services and outreach services both for women and children across Glasgow.

The purpose of this role is to support our Women’s Team with providing a support service to women who are living in our refuges. You will support women being admitted into refuge and will respond to the practical and emotional needs of women as required. Although you will not be a key worker, you will attend appointments with women, signpost and advocate for them and support the running of our group work programmes.

It is essential that you have experience of providing support to women who have experienced trauma or crisis. A suitable qualification that meets with SSSC Housing Support registration is also required (examples would be HNC Social Services or SVQ Level 3 Social Services and Healthcare). The nature of our work requires a commitment to the feminist analysis of domestic abuse and to the values of Glasgow Women’s Aid.
