Welders

Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth

Temporary / 6-month contract

GBP26.58 per hour, 35 hours per week

gap personnel Exeter are currently recruiting multiple Welders to join our client at Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth, a key player in Engineering Services for the Defence, Security, Nuclear, and Emergency Services sectors.

The Role:

As a Welder, you'll work across various settings including:

  • Royal Navy ships & submarines
  • Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels
  • Large commercial marine vessels
  • Workshop/factory environments

You will be expected to demonstrate competency in one or more of the following: FCAW, MMA, MIG, TIG.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Following technical work instructions
  • Using workshop tools and machinery specific to welding

About You:

We are looking for candidates with:

  • A Level 3 NVQ in Engineering, or equivalent qualification
  • An Indentured or Modern Apprenticeship (marine/naval engineering preferred)
  • Proven experience in welding within the marine engineering industry (or similar sectors)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team

Immediate availability is essential.

Hours & Pay:

  • GBP26.58/hour, paid weekly
  • Monday - Thursday: 07:30
  • Friday: 07:30
    (35 hours per week)

Successful candidates will be proactive team workers, liaising and cooperating with all members of staff. They will operate within the confines of company policy and procedure requirements, including integrity and confidentiality in respect of the business. Candidates must abide by health and safety legislation in respect of themselves and others.
